Guest Rowley Birkin Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 This club is crying out for a larger than life character full of enthusiasm to bring us back to life. I can't see many players being excited and wanting to come and play for some of the names mentioned, which is probably what'll happen anyway. I'd love to see Steve Lansdown be bold and approach Blackpool, Swindon and Q.P.R. to see what reaction he'd get for their managers? Maybe we could have Warnock as Director of football, Olly as manager and Di Canio assistant manager ! To be honest I'd take any of them purely because they're passionate as hell, and would demand 100% and nothing less.
eastonboy Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Good manager first, who gives a **** what their personality is like?
Jon atyeo is my dad Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 May I suggest Cheryl cole! Football experience literally under Ashley cole and she also has a lovely set of personalitys which would not only boost the boys but the team would give her all the support she ever needed! I predict the players will take a real hands on approach!

Nibor Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I despair of people who think we need more passion, I mean - how's that going to fix confidence? Or make you mark properly at corners? Or help a keeper to actually catch a ball. Passion never won anything and it isn't the answer. Nor is employing a lying cheating scumbag, a fascist or a even worse, a gashead.

Erm, when Holloway took an average side to the PL?

If your passionate about the club you play for you train harder and play harder. of course its important and most teams are moulded in the managers image. who do you want as manager?
TRL Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I am sensing that is a 'No' from you Nibor. When did passion win anything? Erm, when Holloway took an average side to the PL? And then where did it take them? The guy is a media whore. I have had a gutfull of him. He talks bollox and that seems to deem him good enough. They got lucky getting to the prem. They should of stayed up, but olly blew it. If he ever got near our club I would stop going until he was gone.
Jon atyeo is my dad Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Yeah so anyway back to cheryl cole....
TRL Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Yeah so anyway back to cheryl cole.... She as all the personality you'll ever need, she is also a media whore, but I'm willing to overlook that in this case

Ability, preparation, confidence, planning and many other factors are vastly more important than passion which is often a liability as much as an asset. who do you want as manager? Someone on the way up. Tisdale would be fine with me as would some of the others mentioned in other threads. I would certainly not be picking a manager on the basis of how passionate they appear to be when they're embarrassing themselves in the media.
Guest poland_red Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 holloway is vile. never forget, but seeing so many so-called city have, may i remind you of this:

To suggest it is would be as ridiculous as saying it isnt an important ingredient at all.
Nibor Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 well no on its own passion isnt enough. To suggest it is would be as ridiculous as saying it isnt an important ingredient at all. Do you really think passion is an important quality in a manager?
SC_Red Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Do you really think passion is an important quality in a manager? of course it is. Thats like saying do you think breathing is important in a manager.
Nibor Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 of course it is. Thats like saying do you think breathing is important in a manager. Cool, so we've got breathing and passionate.. so are those the first two things you'd look for or like me would you have at least a dozen other important qualities in front of being passionate? I certainly hope the board haven't got any of the three names mentioned in the original post on their list. Not the sort of scum I want associated with my football club.
bcfcnick Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I think being passionate is important becomes it is usually accompanied by a will to win. Look at the managers who have got teams up against the odds recently, Warnock & Holloway, like them or loathe them one of their overriding traits is passion or enthusiasm. Ferguson is not short of passion either. Of course it's not the only key ingredient but it's a crucial one. Keith Millen made a telling comment in pre-season when he said teams often reflect their managers. Later on he kept sayign 'we are too nice' and I guess he had forget his earlier astute observation.I really wanted Keith to do well to show that good guys can come first but sadly it wasn't to be. The other point is that you can be passionate and play quality football as well - passion doesn't necessarily result in hoofball it just usually means a manager and his team care about achieving and will be motivated to do something about it if they don't achieve. I wouldn't want a dispassionate manager like Sven who will only get success if he can buy it.

I dont have the qualities in an order. They are all important. Tell me someone who is successful and inspires others who isnt passionate about what they do.
Nibor Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I dont have the qualities in an order. They are all important. Tell me someone who is successful and inspires others who isnt passionate about what they do. At the end of the day the point I was making is that passion is not very important. Yes, you need to be professional and dedicated and care about what you do (hi captain obvious) but to have passion as an overriding (only?) quality like the three idiots mentioned above do? Not even slightly important. To leap about on the touchline showing passion like some of our sillier fans demand? Meaningless. To sound off in the press every opportunity talking absolute shite sounding passionate? Detrimental. You want to nit pick, carry on, I'm sure everyone else got it.

If your not interested in discussing something maybe dont ask questions. You really have an issue with anyone putting you on the spot dont you? Possibly because you have a small penis or balding early? One of those I'd have thought Maybe steer clear of forums if alternative views offend your little world where everything you say is right
