The Real Reason For Not Wanting Billy Davies

I am finding it hard to forgive Billy Davies for taking the piss out of Dean Gerken being knocked out by one of his strikers (Tyson i think?) in front of the Eastend. In a game Bristol City v Nottingham Forest 2 years ago.

Davies was standing looking towards the away dug out laughing clasping his hands together resting his head on them. His eyes closed & laughing. He realy thought it was funny that Gerken was unconscious.

To me that was unforgivable. You just dont take the piss out of a football player seriously injured on the pitch.

I must admit I can't remember that incident (forgive me I'm quite old and we forget lots) but if accurate it would seriously impair the respect that Davies would get from the team I'd think. Presumably he assumed it was a feigned injury at first, but f-ing hell, respect your opponents mate!

Davies is probably a reluctant 3rd on my realistic list. Yes I remember this incident, I remember seeing him goad other fans to, I remember him constantly moan about lack of signings (despite signing just about every forward going) and I remember him generally being a nause. There however be no doubting his record. He has taken over clubs and turned them around and got them toward the top of their tables and beyond. Just what we are in desperate need of. It's what comes after that worries me. He seems to leave as soon as he doesn't get his way, usually after a season or two, and usually under a cloud and after upsetting everyone and anyone. All the clubs he has left have had to live with the aftermath both financially and personally and have taken a while to be rebuilt. That for me is why I'm not that keen on him taking over despite his proven record. I feel Jones may not have the adrenaline rush of instant success, but will make sure we're mid table this season before building and pushing on the following season and the season after that.

I mentioned this incident in another thread the other day Judge and i totally agree the mans behaviour that day was disgraceful and i wouldnt want him anywhere near BS3

Your 100% certain he was "taking the piss out of a seriously injured player" are you? Maybe he thought Gerkin was feigning injury?

Even if he was (which i'd say he wasn't) he's still the type of horrible character to toughen our side up and get rid of this soft underbelly we have, seems like a large proportion of our supporters have developed it too.

I was sat behind the away dugout that day and BD was laughing and joking about the whole incident and blowing kisses and winking at the crowd. Even after Gerken lay motionless on the ground for at least 4 minutes Davis was still laughing and simulating Gerken was faking the injury and generally upsetting all the crowd in the Williams. I was so inscensed by the little gits attitude to a fellow pro being stretchered off i was told to calm down by the stewards.

I didnt see the incident. But how can you be sure that he was laughing at gerken?

Is it not possible he was laughing at something else?

exactly my thoughts.

makes me laugh how people assume something, yet do not know exactly what happened

I think you can be a decent human being and still come down like a ton bricks on a bunch of under performing players.

However, from what I've seen and heard over the years Billy Davies isn't a decent human being, I think the Gerkin incident won't of been forgotten by SL and CS.

I can remember vaguely Bean Head tweeting something about the crap way the media were treated at Forest when he was in charge.

So I'm not expecting and certainly not hoping for his name to come out of the hat.

:fastasleep:

Get over it!!!

Great manager that would sort this bunch of wasters out......

P.S It was a 50/50 challenge that I would expect any of our strikers to go for. People get hurt in football.

I doubt our strikers would have gone for the ball, too soft for a 50/50 ball.

More worrying for me would be that he was the manager of the team that after this incident happened and we were forced to put a Striker in goal for the remainder of the game (Mierhoffer sp?) that team failed to take a single shot of note on target and put us under real pressure.
