cummins17 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Sorry if this topic has been mentioned elsewere but i couldnt find it. Now a new gaffer is expected to be appointed next week, what is the likleyhood of the fringe players to finally be given a fair chance? e.g N.Hunt, Stewart, Cisse, Woolford, Bolasie? because yets be fair they cant be any worse than the current crop of shite were playing week in week out. Your thoughts?
Rocky Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Reckon Cisse might be the main man to come back, he wasn't at all happy with Keef. Possibly Stewart as well. Bolasie is a young un, plenty of time to make it. Woolford needs to be played in the right position! Hunt is doomed regardless where he goes.

Your thoughts? Hunt, Stewart, LJ, Riberio, Clarkson - simply on the way out, the sooner their contracts are out the better, just a shame Stewart has another year left after this season. Cisse - If he can sort out his attitude, get himself fit - He's a good player Woolford - STILL for me hasn't really ever been given a good run of games on left wing (3/4) his confidence is shot to pieces and is worth a go Bolaise, Taylor - Players for the future and were signed for as much - Going to get games in fits and starts, though seen little from either of them to warrant much more than loan moves to L1 in short term.
REDOXO Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Pretty much every player will be in contention. Expect a recall for Clarkson and LJ at the very least. Yes the manager will watch the DVD's available and speak with Steve Wigley. Nevertheless there are players that will feel they were not treated well by the club and will be itching to make their point! Cissee Stewart Woolford Clarkson Ribiero will all come into contention among quite a few others Expect a much more attacking formation and generally more positive mood, pretty much whoever comes in! Under a new man I can see Cissee being around the first team and the moving on of Nicky Maynard as soon as possible (if he continues not to sign) as the whole saga has impacted everyone at the club and we need the money. Pitman, Stead, Taylor and Clarkson are all decent strikers we just lack craft to get the killer ball in... in my opinion we are two players short nevertheless a manger coming in and making the players we have play may well get the best out of what we have ala GJ....Fingers crossed
Br1stolCityBoy Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 If we bring in a manager, who likes to play good passing attacking football then I think if Ribs can prove his fitness, I think his career will carry on at the Gate, and from some of the managers on the list, that could well happen. I agree with comments on here that Cisse will definately be straight back in the side, he is IMO the best midfield player in the squad on his day, and will be like another signing when he gets back on the pitch. I still hold back judgement on Woolford, but again I agree he needs a few games in his correct position.
westonred Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 New Manager clean slate. All players should be given a chance to impress and who knows he might just get the best out of the players that Millen couldnt manage ie Hunt, Cisse and Co
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Cisse is more than good enough at this level, Bolasie is just raw talent. The others i'm not sure about but Nicky Hunt will never be a good at this level in my opinion.
Chappers Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Small point, don't expect attacking football automatically. With our defensive frailties, and our League position, I think the new dude will be looking for clean sheets and getting points at any cost as first priority.
Whites Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Everyone will have to earn their place in the starting eleven. No one is (or shouldn't be) guaranteed a spot. This is why imo that a new manager more often than not gets some decent results.
Roadrunner Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 And don't forget the players out on loan. They should call them back at some point, and see if they fit into his plans. (I am assuming we will appoint a male manager.)
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Dont bother calling back Marlon Jackson, unless your going to call him back and release him. Watched him today for Northampton vs Crawley and he didn't look interested and was so poor it amazed me we offered him a new deal.

Written as if you are stating fact. You are obviously not in touch with the thinking of the board and owners. And as there is no current Mgr there are no other opinions that matter How little you actually know.

I dont think so some how.. All of those could excell under new management and motivation. The only thing we do know for sure is the new Manager will want to take a look at the whole squad and make his own assessment of the players available. If they dont enter into his plans there could then be some suprising deals done. Three of those players you dismiss above are already on the radar of other Championship and first division clubs apparently. It would be no suprise to me at all if Maynard wasnt the first player to hit the road.

I'm not entirely sure that Millen froze out all of those or whether it's purely about getting higher earners off the wage bill i.e. board pressure. There were times late last season when Millen was regularly using the likes Cisse, Stewart and Clarkson.

Assume with new mgr selection running into mid week, that Wigley will be in charge of the team for saturday. New Mgr can then have an opportunity to watch and assess what he is taking on at Ashton gate. Wonder if there will be any changes to the regular squad and or shape which has been predominant under Milly for the first 10 league matches?
