Sydneybcfc Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Sorry, over in Sydney. good luck though its a nice part of Australia.
Guest Chris edwards Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks mate have u heard of anyone on here who is from south oz
Philip Belgrave Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Adelaide is not at all bad:- and if you are a wine enthusiast you will find the nearby Barossa and Clare valleys paradise on earth. However, it's half-an-hour behind Eastern Australian Time, which rather says it all really.
Guest Chris edwards Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 So all good then . We have kids so love the beach and all seems ok round about . Here for 2 years sure I can put up with it and have fun. Going to melboule for weekend at end of month so will see what it's like there
Stephen Lewis Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 If you have kids then Australia's the place to bring them up. You may not want to leave after 2 years.
connaught road boy Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Hi Chris,I am a Bristol city supporter living in Adelaide it's a great place to live. There are plenty of city supporters around,a good place to start is watching Adelaide United, they are playing Harry Kewells team Melboune Victory this Friday at home,it's not city but it helps.Good luck for the future.
sirscrumpton Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 A mate of mine, fellow City fan, has lived in Adelaide for a few years now. I'll send him the link to your post.

How long have you been living out here??
Tinmansleftboot Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Up in Brisbane and you'll have NO problems wearing your City shirt to ANY sporting event in Australia. Fans quite often sit with each other in all codes of football over here. Not like the UK at all. All the best down there. Nice part of the world.
Sydneybcfc Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I was visiting a friend in Adelaide about 2 years ago and watched an Adelaide home game, despite the dire standard of football they at least play in a decent size ground 18k (i think) and nearly fill it. Last Sydney game i went to had 4k in a 35k ground with a total of 3 away fans... Also Adelaide were trying to introduce Drink Up Thy Cider as one of their songs (must be a bristol influence in that) with going down to Melbourne instead of Rovers.
Rednready Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Melbourne v Sydney last night had a 41,000 crowd. Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton were on display. Nick Carle was also playing for Sydney .
connaught road boy Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 thanks for that , i was thinkin about goin and watchin adelaide reds sometime , will it be ok if i wear city shirt along to game. How long have you been living out here?? Chris, both my sons wear their city shirts to Adelaide united home games,it seems to be the norm over here.I arrived here with my wife and three chidren in 1982. It took us 2 years to settle, we then started our own business and we have never looked back.I go back home every year to watch the city and buy my sons new city shirts.
Guest Adelaide Utd Red Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Hi Chris. Welcome to the best city in Australia. The footy is crap (but we're used to that) but the weather is f'in awesome and the beaches even better! Enjoy mate. Adelaide Utd Red
Guest Adelaide Utd Red Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 You've moved to Adelaide...hohoho...mate,I hope you make your own fun and drink wine! Oh and don't support the Power as they are totally crap. Nice town centre, great cricket ground (to play AFL there from 2012?) but my god South Australia is a very, very boring place and gets very small very quickly.Unless you like exploring old nuclear testing ranges or Abo towns! Good Luck from an ex-victorian! Dont listen to 'im Chris, Adelaide is by far the best city in Australia. OK it may not be the coolest place in the world but if you like chillin' out, eating great food, drinking great beer & wine and like the beach - then its the place to be...although I do agree with the Power comment! Go the Crows!
Guest hankinaus Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I`m just over the Nullabor in Perth, don`t watch the so called football or "soccer" as they call it because it`s nearly as bad as watching the gas, dreadful stuff.
Guest Chris edwards Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Thanks everyone for comments ,, from what we have seen so far really nice place to live and ya beaches are out of this world . Just started job huntin so hol over for time being .. Will go and see Adelaide reds soon and wear my yellow city shirt with pride cheers all
BigTone Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Hi all , Just moved to Adelaide south oz from Bristol last week and just checking if any other city fans are near by . Thanks for help Hi Chris, I loved in Adelaide for Donkeys yonks and went to Uni there. Its Ok but it does get very boring. Once you've done the Barossa and all that there isn't an awful lot to do. You could try going down to West Beach and seeing how long it will take for a large shark to sever your legs from the rest of you but it is a bit of an "extreme sport". When I was there it was full of Drive in Theatres etc which sadly have now all gone with the exception of the one at Gepps Cross (the best burgers in the world sold there). My parents live in Goolwa which is a classic example of what JurrasicPark would have looked like because all its residents are of a similar age. My sisters etc all live around Reynella. Good luck and enjoy yourself. I did have fun there and then made the best decision of my life.........................I moved to Brisbane.
'Orns Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Hi Chris, I loved in Adelaide for Donkeys yonks Tell us more bigtone!!
BigTone Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 ...although I do agree with the Power comment! Go the Crows! The Crows were only formed by the knobs in charge of the SANFL who decided to block Port Adelaides attempts to enter into the VFL because it would weaken their grip on the game. Nobody with an ounce of morality in their bodies should support this team who were only created so that these same knobs could benefit from the greater revenue the VFL created. Eventually Port were able to take their rightful place and correct this terrible injustice. Go the Power !!!
Guest Adelaide Utd Red Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 And the Powers rightful place being bottom of the pile all season! Bloody hell Big Tone you pick your teams don't you! Go the Crows!
Guest hankinaus Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Neither teams will be as good as the Fremantle Dockers
BigTone Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Bloody hell Big Tone you pick your teams don't you! Unfortunately my alegiance goes back to the days long before the Crows were conceived and I would watch Port play at Alberton on my way home from work. This is in the days of the mighty Russel Ebert who would win the Magarey Medal nearly every year.
Dollymarie Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I never kiss and tell Thats because i'd kick your butt isn't it?
BigTone Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Thats because i'd kick your butt isn't it? Yes, dearest
