.....Has he not applied for the Bristol City job? It's all gone silent in his corner. All i seem to read is Mark Robins this, Derek Mcinnes that & the odd mention of Dave Jones here & there.

He'd be a great choice imo. Would be a shot in the arm to the profile of this club.

I'm sure we could get him or someone of his stature - is the club ambitious enough nowadays?

None of us know if he's applied. You get the impression he joined Florist under promises of money to spend, then when it didn't materialise he left. Doubt very much he be interested in us in our predicament. Seems like he's after one of the formerly big clubs trying to re-establish themselves, rather than a relegation battle on a shoestring.

I don't know if his fall out was only about money. On radio 5 the day after he left Forest they were saying he was a real hard worker, gave 110% to everything he did and expected the same high standards from others. It seems he wanted to bring in a strict training regime which the Forest players didn't take to, seems they wanted and easier life.

It has been said he had lined a couple of Premiership players on loan, but the chairman didn't want to pay the wages, so there was a money issue with that. I think by them though with the training difficulties he had already lost the players and the chairmans decision was forced? At least he had the contacts to attempt to bring players in.

I must admit when Forest appointed him I was a bit envious. Out of the realistic candidates I've seen mentioned I think he'd be my pick of a fairly unspiring bunch.

McClaren wants to get back into the PL ASAP.

Having been England manager he sees himself as a PL manager - minimum

He only agreed to Forest as he thought (was promised?) the funds to get them straight up and even more funds to get them back

as a top club.

He brought in 6 players on PL wages, and wanted to bring in more but the owner said no, as the 6 he signed hadn't improved the side at all.

Mcclaren would not be interested in a long term rebuilding job (at City) especially when CS has already said the new man may be able to buy a player or 2 but certainly can't have millions to buy the very best as we can't afford it. That is exactly what McClaren would want.

It's just never going to happen.

Am very pleased he hasn't been mentioned.

me too! Bloke is a joke.....that faux Dutch accent at Twente was cringeworthy. and he hasn't done jackshit in his last two posts

I think he would be a great choice - as long as he was given clear goals and realistic means of achieving them.

Number one would be avoid relegation this year.

The others would depend on what the board is willing to spend. If the short term goal is stabilisation as a championship club, then that would have to be shared with the fans - so as to avoid a situation where fans become increasingly unhappy with BCFC not reaching the premier league etc..

then again if that is all the board want Steve McC may not want to come here.

Yes you are.

Won the Dutch league. Had a mare In Germany and was sacked.

Indeed, won the Eredivisie with FC Twente, then bombed at Vfl Wolsburg and 'Coppelled out' at Forest.
