Adam Baker just posted this on Twitter

"IF new manager is not in place by Saturday then Steve Wigley will take caretaker charge. #BristolCity"

Alarm bells are starting to ring, anybody else?

Hopefully this is because they need to negotiate comp with the preferred candidate's current club :sign09:

So no alarm bells - in fact pleased that they are taking as long as necessary

Nothing news. It was always a possibility that we may not have someone in charge by then...

Still think we will appoint someone before then though...

Expectation management me thinks

In what other business would you appoint such a high profile and key person, in such a short space of time. If it takes a couple of weeks to get the right man so be it.

Granted, still, it's not as if there's been a shortage of candidates applying for the role. But yeah, it is a big if so here's hoping the board get it sorted before the weekend!

Yeah BOOOOOO!!

Let's rush into appointing someone for the sake of it.

What are they thinking about with all this meassured, in depth interviewing?!

(if there is some sort of delay, then it might actually give some credability to the Nigel Worthington suggestion on another thread)

FFS if the board feel that they need longer to make their decision then lets all just be a bit patient! I am as keen as anyone to know more about who it might be, but happy to wait and give them the time to appoint whoever they feel to be the best man for the job.

ALSO, it kind of dispells the myth that they are just looking for the cheapest, easiest appointment. They are clearly (and rightly) looking into this in a very detailed and thorough way.

WELL DONE THE BOARD!

Radio Bristol have just announced that there will be NO appointment this week.

Sexstone is to speak on RB in about 15 minutes.

Something must have changed - because CS said the final 2 will be decided today and 2nd interview this week.

So to report this on the day they were to select the 2 must mean - perhaps - someone's timetable can't fit this in

Or - they both turned down a second interview !! and we're back to square one!

On a positive note, he may do a good job and hopefully we can get a win at home!

I am not a religious person but God help us all!!!! FFS can it get any worse!!

No it can't. If the gates of hell were to slam shut and the dead roamed the earth spreading a zombie plague where the brain dead ruled it would be nowhere near as bad as the City not having a manager in place by the weekend.

Oh, balls! Hang on a minute

As long as we don't hear again that the new man can't start for x number of weeks as he has booked his holidays!

I'm not too worried, like others have said no need to rush, just do it RIGHT !

Anyway if we weren't in an International break right now we would be playing games under a caretaker manager wouldn't we?

I think the forum will go into meltdown after Saturdays match, nothing to do with whatever the result is...just hundreds of 'sightings'

CS on RB

They've had a couple of phone calls over the w/e - not applications, but more

a case of agents calling to say their man XYZ (presumably already employed) might be interested.

CS & board to consider this, it might mean another 1 or 2 interviews before they get to the final 2 - or they might decide

not to look at these late entries & choose from the 5 already interviewed

hence the delay

CS said last Tuesday he took 140 phone calls about the vacaancy !!

This is the biggest appointment for many years, if the board decide it needs more time to get the right man in then that's fine we can't afford to rush this decision and get it wrong

Not sure i believe a word of this but I'd love it. Can you imagine anyone more motivated to succeed?

Glad of this in some ways seems like the board are perhaps going for right person and not cheapest.

And at least they are keeping the fans informed. I'd much rather we explored all potential candidates and got the right one rather than making a rushed decision.....

I personally think somone should start a partition to stop Wigley from managing this Saturdays game!!!

If he win's he might be another Keith Millen in the making!!!!

OMG I have just heard that we may be about to become Olloway's Barmy Army????????

put it this way, if you knew we were going to appoint a manager who has gotten a team promoted from this league before, on a budget, getting the best out of average players, who was passionate, and didnt accept anything but the best from his players, you would be very happy. In this case his name is holloway, but what the hell, he is the kind of guy we need to sort out those bunch of wasters, it would be wierd to start with, but he would have my support.

If you know where he lives get down there with your 4 x 2, gypum particle board and a bag of nails and start putting it up then. he's quite a tall chap is he not?.. 6' and all that.. so make sure you go for the extra length board. might mean a small delivery charge on the flat bed from Travis but we can all chip in ;)
