TRL Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Championship clubs can only appoint bosses with A or Pro licences. It will be interesting to see the licences our prospective new employee has, it may knock some out of the running. Apparently it is why Clough has not gone to Forest, he only has his B License. This could narrow our field of choice down even more
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Isn't Clough in Charge of Derby who are also a Championship club? Confused.
TRL Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 Isn't Clough in Charge of Derby who are also a Championship club? Confused. Yes, but the laws have changed since he was appointed apparently. So any new appointments have to have the relevant badges, hence how Millen got the job so quickly he already had all the badges. Seems like the goal posts keep changing. I knew this rule was in place for the prem, I had no idea it was in place at our level.
Red-Robbo Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Seems yet another completely unecessary bit of Uefa bureaucracy to me, this rule. If a club wants to appoint a bloke they picked from the crowd by drawing lots that's up to them, it's their look out. Arsene Wenger and a number of other top managers would not have been able to have got a start in football if this silly rule had been in place in the past.
CodeRed Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Clubs always seem to be able to get around this if they really want someone Shearer didn't have it when he took the Newcastle job. I doubt that this is the reason. The man we want will have some experience and the relevant licence I'm sure. CR

SC_Red Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Correct - they had to apply for dispensation from the other PL clubs. cant imagine why they all agreed to let him

Guest BCFC Taunton Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 It's a course you take, I believe it's atleast a year, but I bet there's a way of fast tracking
TRL Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 How long routhly would it take to apply and recieve a license ?? It doesn't work like that. You have to take the training courses, and to get to that level I am thinking it will take a couple of years, if not more. I know Millen started his early and got to the very top, but it did take a long time. I believe Millen is one of only a handful of coaches who can legitimately coach at the the very highest level. And I believe you have to take them in order as well, so no real fast tracking. Goes to prove that all the training and qualifications in the world do not guarentee success.

TRL Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 unless your David Platt in which case the fa bends it's own rules to fasttrack you through because they want to give you a job Oh there are always ways of bypassing it, if it is in the interests of the FA, makes me sick. People slog theri guts out taking theses courses and exams on the say so of Uefa, then some no mark gets fast tracked above you.
