Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Following negotiations, the club have agreed to Bristol City's request to interview manager Derek McInnes. from http://www.perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk/newsitemsdetail.php?param=1737
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Lets all hope the interview goes well so CS and the board appoint him! DEL BOYS CIDER ARMY!
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Good news but means nothing, he was interviewed by Brentford and refused the job, he could do the same here.
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Brentford... Bristol City.. Big differance imo and also he might of then thought he needed another year in scotland before making the move down south. :fingerscrossed:
havanatopia Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Good news but means nothing, he was interviewed by Brentford and refused the job, he could do the same here. He could but from all the behind the scenes talk it would appear the ball is already rolling. I would also dread to think we would be compared to Brentford, all due respect to them.
NOTR Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Brentford... Bristol City.. Big differance imo and also he might of then thought he needed another year in scotland before making the move down south. :fingerscrossed: Oh I don't know both begin with B.
chipdawg Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Good news but means nothing, he was interviewed by Brentford and refused the job, he could do the same here. You would think that we'd have learnt from that and made sure he was interested before we made an official approach. Wouldn't we? Anyway, all i have to say is then then . Be well chuffed if we see this through
winterbournered Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Come on Delboy sign on the dotted line..... You know it makes sense!!!
havanatopia Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Oh I don't know both begin with B. Also on the same latitude. Spooky.
NOTR Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Also on the same latitude. Spooky. Shit i forgot to check the latitude, yeah spooky.
Slave to the rhythm Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Lets all hope the interview goes well so CS and the board appoint him! DEL BOYS CIDER ARMY! Remind me of his managerial record in England?
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 If they suspend betting on McInnes tonight i'll think he's got the job!
David Brent Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Remind me of his managerial record in England? He's never lost.
glynriley Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Remind me of his managerial record in England? He has'nt got one , but everyone has to start somewhere
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Remind me of his managerial record in England? Remind me of Jose Mourinho's managerial record in England before he got the Chelsea job? I know theres a massive differance but a good manager is a good manager surely?
Esmond Million's Bung Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Remind me of his managerial record in England? Remind of the clubs he has managed in England? and we'll look at his record, is it his fault he was born elsewhere.
NOTR Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 0% wins,0%draws and 0% losses,pretty average then.
The Chaplain Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Doesn't this just mean he's one of the final two? CS said 2nd interviews, presumably for both, not till Monday didn't he? Happy with him though.
havanatopia Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Shit i forgot to check the latitude, yeah spooky. Was he also not linked to Cardiff about the time they appointed Malkay?.. also 51.20 ish degrees north.. spoooookieeee.
Slave to the rhythm Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Remind me of Jose Mourinho's managerial record in England before he got the Chelsea job? I know theres a massive differance but a good manager is a good manager surely? I know bugger all about McInnes, so I really don't know if he's a good manager. You can guarantee that the reaction to his name in the City dressing room will be Derek who?
NOTR Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Was he also not linked to Cardiff about the time they appointed Malkay?.. also 51.20 ish degrees north.. spoooookieeee. ******* RANDOM.
David Brent Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Doesn't this just mean he's one of the final two? CS said 2nd interviews, presumably for both, not till Monday didn't he? Happy with him though. Probably. Also, from the way I read it he hasn't been interviewed yet??? i.e. we now have permission to interview him.
havanatopia Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 ******* RANDOM. no sireeee sir. How about Antwerp then?
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Surely if the interview is impressive he has the job because i'd of thought to be willing to pay the compensation for a manager you must want him as your first choice?
NOTR Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I know bugger all about McInnes, so I really don't know if he's a good manager. You can guarantee that the reaction to his name in the City dressing room will be Derek who? They've probably forgotton who Keith was so thats not saying a lot.
havanatopia Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I know bugger all about McInnes, so I really don't know if he's a good manager. You can guarantee that the reaction to his name in the City dressing room will be Derek who? They'll soon know his name when he fires both barrels at em for an inept performance somewhere down the line. be interesting to see how he handles calamity.
Frank Reynolds Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I know bugger all about McInnes, so I really don't know if he's a good manager. You can guarantee that the reaction to his name in the City dressing room will be Derek who? As a player he played for Rangers and West Brom. He also played for Toulouse in France and a couple of times for Scotland. If they don't know who he is, then they should. I remember him from Rangers and West Brom and I'm roughly the same age as a lot of our players.
Esmond Million's Bung Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I know bugger all about McInnes, so I really don't know if he's a good manager. You can guarantee that the reaction to his name in the City dressing room will be Derek who? I seriously doubt that mate, i"m sure since his name has been mentioned, the 'dressing room' have found out about via contacts all about him.
bringbacktherobin Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I know bugger all about McInnes, so I really don't know if he's a good manager. You can guarantee that the reaction to his name in the City dressing room will be Derek who? Then they should be shipped out of the club if they want to take that attitude. There fault were in this mess in the first place.
havanatopia Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Official text just recieved what, saying the same thing?
Dollymarie Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 what, saying the same thing? http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2482344,00.html Confirming we have been given permission to speak to him.
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2482344,00.html Damn you Dollymarie for beating me to it
NOTR Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 no sireeee sir. How about Antwerp then? No way,I'm stunned.Wish I'd tried harder in geography at school now, only got grade 2 CSE.
Pete1975Legend Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Does this news really mean we've gone cheap. St johnstone to bristol city huge jump will it work hope so. Will it backfire hope not, is he right for BCFC I doubt it..........turned down Brentford as family didn't want to move, I can't see this being any different imo
Gazred Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Being honest i'd only heard of him as a player upto a week ago. Reading up a bit on what he has done at St Johnstone it sounds like he is a decent up and coming manager and has got a small club punching above their weight. The fact he is interested in the job must surely mean that he has taken St Johnstone as far as he thinks they can go for now and wants a crack at proving himself in England. Fingers crossed on this, i'd be very happy with his appointment.
Belfastcityfan Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Come on derek join us....u know it makes sense! This time next year we could be playing against millionaires!
havanatopia Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 No way,I'm stunned.Wish I'd tried harder in geography at school now, only got grade 2 CSE. I always loved Geography. And I'll break the bank to visit as many countries as i can in my lifetime. Thanks for that Dolls. Interesting to note that the shortlist of 5 then down to 2 seems to be a moving feast time wise.

Will it backfire hope not, is he right for BCFC I doubt it..........turned down Brentford as family didn't want to move, I can't see this being any different imo If his family doesn't want to move then presumably he won't bother attending an interview? Seems strange.

Will it backfire hope not, is he right for BCFC I doubt it..........turned down Brentford as family didn't want to move, I can't see this being any different imo It's been made clear that he wants to manage in England at some stage. Why do you doubt it? Should Owen Coyle, St Johnstone fans, our board and a lot of us who are sold on the long-term plan of appointing Derek McInnes bow to your superior judgement? Presumably you watch St Johnstone every week to know that he wouldn't be a good fit?
Brizzle Jordan Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13327691.stm Link of him turning down Brentford, nothing about family wanting to stay put.

Cider Army Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Great news go get him...They could offer DEL BOY the flat next to ashton gate haha..
Sir Colby-Tit Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I wonder if he'll bring his assistant, Dave?
beaverface Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Probably. Also, from the way I read it he hasn't been interviewed yet??? i.e. we now have permission to interview him. I got the impression (reading between the lines) that we may have "unofficially" spoken to him, or his agent (or an agent of an gent) may have notified us that he's interested. I'd be very surprised if today is the first time that both parties have opened dialogue.

sunningdalered Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I thought that I had read something about SJ not standing in his way quite a few days ago

Guest BlueSaintee Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Right in the middle of our best season for years along comes a Chairman of a team languishing in the nether regions of the Football League Championship, and probably going nowhere except downwards, to prise away our young rookie manager. Will he take it on? He might but looking at the league table you lot better believe in God or Lazarus because it is going to take some effort to save you from the drop into the league below. A league that you will find hard to get out of.
billyboy50 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Can't understand why sexstone has come out and named just D M as one of the people in for the job is it because he feels he'e the strongest candidate for the job
TRL Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Can't understand why sexstone has come out and named just D M as one of the people in for the job is it because he feels he'e the strongest candidate for the job Because saints made it public so Colin can't deny it. Simples
beaverface Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Can't understand why sexstone has come out and named just D M as one of the people in for the job is it because he feels he'e the strongest candidate for the job Probably because St Johnstone went public with it,

Guest SJFC Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Enjoy Del boy, because Bristol are just a stepping stone to something bigger... now leave our ****in players alone
Redhyde Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Very strange for his club to announce this, what if we dont end up wanting him O_o

Aaah thats what it may look like from afar... but we do have a decent squad of championship players, lets hope your man is the guy to get them playing like it
CotswoldRed Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Enjoy Del boy, because Bristol are just a stepping stone to something bigger... now leave our ****in players alone A stepping stone to bigger things sounds good to me. That will mean he's done a good job

He turned down Brentford for one pretty simple reason. It didn't suit HIM. I am really hoping that he is being polite ( and thinking it would be rude not to) by accepting an interview with you guys. I am also hoping that he decides that BC is not for him either and stays put for now. You'll all be looking out for the Saints result tomorrow now I suspect. And I hope the speculation does not effect our players as it's a big game in terms of consolidating our league position. As well as a huge compliment, it's a bloody pisser when teams keep nicking your managers..If he does go, you lot better appreciate him
TRL Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Enjoy Del boy, because Bristol are just a stepping stone to something bigger... now leave our ****in players alone we have always been a stepping stone, we are just like you in that respect. So do we get a buy one get one free? Pay for Del and get your best player free? Everyone needs a deal in these hard times

The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Enjoy Del boy, because Bristol are just a stepping stone to something bigger... now leave our ****in players alone Don't suppose you have a decent defence and attacking midfielder? Maybe Del Boy can kidnap them on his drive down! With all due respect I think we've learned our lessons when it comes to our recent record with Scottish players!!!!!

I'm gutted enough at the thought of him leaving, he has flaws but he has done wonders at Saints. I hope this doesn't affect the players tomorrow and we beat ICT!
TRL Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 How many of you are prepared to be honest. Who had heard of Derek mcInness prior to Millens sacking? I hadn't and to be honest as a result I can't get to excited about the unknown. I'm not saying it would be a bad appointment i just wondered. Yes for the past couple of years good things have been coming out of Scotland about him, and I was also aware of interest from other English clubs in him. I am surprised he was linked to us though. I genuinely thought he may be lining up a bigger club than us. If he signs for us I will be ecstatic
SimonL Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Whole club needs a lift and looking at this guy around the web I think he has the right ingrediants to take us forward.
Esmond Million's Bung Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 How many of you are prepared to be honest. Who had heard of Derek mcInness prior to Millens sacking? I hadn't and to be honest as a result I can't get to excited about the unknown. I'm not saying it would be a bad appointment i just wondered. I remember him as a player but had no idea that he was manager of St Johnstone, but that is totally irrelevant. i'd never really heard of Mourinho, Benitez, Wenger, AVB or even Alan Dicks because I had no interest in any of them until they managed clubs in England. in my view there is far too much importance by some of our fans in 'designer label' managers/players, you be honest now had you heard of Adomah?, but of course many FIFA PC managers on here told us he must be shit because he came from Barnet.
