slartibartfast Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 What happened today (can't quite remember when) Blocks A & B all stood up for a few mins. Was there an altercation or problem?
Donald Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 A Old man, fell down lower tier dolman steps, bounced off his head a few times and crashed into the floor, Blood everywhere, had alot of treatment and was carried out on a stretcher directly into ambulance
Granty Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Old fella lost his footing and went arse over tit down the lower stairs, looked and sounded very nasty, luckily the chap was still talking whilst stretcherd out at the end. Could have been really nasty.
steviestevieneville Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Elderly Bloke fell down the steps. He looked quite badly hurt. Hope he's ok
Dollymarie Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Hope he's ok. Also hope the little boy (can't have been more than 2) who had fallen over in the East End just before kick off, and was taken away with the paramedics down that end is ok.
formerly known as ivan Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 It was a very nasty fall. Couldn't help fear the worse when we saw it happen. Would be good if there was someone on here who knows him could post an update on how he is. Good to hear he was talking on his way out. Hope its a speedy recovery.
Guest Craven arms Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Another reason we need a new stadium
Cider Queen Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Another reason we need a new stadium Exactly.. I know many fully fit younger fans won't even think of this but the Dolman stand steps are a nightmare for anyone elderly or any fan who has walking difficulties or with knee, ankle, back problems. It doesnt help when fans stand having a chat by the railings stopping the needy getting to them. I watch a number of people stumble over the years. Hope the chap who feel yesterday has a speedy recovery.
Pickle Rick Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I was sat in the middle of block A of Dolman and it happened practically right in front of me! It made me feel sick as when he made his first step, I did say to my mate "he's gonna go and I can't look". When he did go, it seemed all I could hear was the thuds as he hit/fell down the concerete steps. Not nice at all. And before anyone says it, I didn't/couldn't help him as it was too late. Same for everyone else around. Quite sad to see him like that, obviously in bad pain. Question is, did he need assistance to get up to his seat in the first place? If so, maybe he shouldn't of been sitting in his seat to begin with as he never looked like he could make it down the steps.

SC_Red Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Seemed to take a age for them to get a stretcher and move the poor guy, hope he is well on the way to making a full recovery asap. Anyone know him and can give us a update ? when someone falls like that you dont always want to move them straight away. Hope he's ok
Guest jamiet Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Double post I saw it happen the man was covered in blood it took them ages to get him sorted out hope he is ok
bringbacktherobin Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 .the dolman complied with h and s standards in the sixties, does it now? Yes, or it wouldn't be open.
PFree Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Seemed to take a age for them to get a stretcher and move the poor guy, hope he is well on the way to making a full recovery asap. Anyone know him and can give us a update ? The only good news was that he fell within feet of the medics who were sat just yards away, they didn't take ages to get a stretcher, they took time to assess his condition and to stabilise him. They brought a wheelchair, then a scoop stretcher and finally had to resort to a stretcher given the serious nature of his injuries. I too watched it happen from the Atyeo and it brings everything into perspective; watching this poor old chap go through that was sickening - we all get passionate about our performances but in reality, the health of you and your family is far more important than football. i just hope he pulls through okay, I am sure that all of our thoughts and best wishes are with him and his family - let's hope he does come back to the gate at some point soon.
