Guest bcfc kiers Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Pete Leg End You not moaning / complaining about Skusey tonight then? I take it from that you were equally impressed by his performance today. A couple of last ditch tackles, saved 1-2 certain goals with goal line clearances, supported Adomah and even put over a couple of great crosses. Defo MoM for me. ( Lets wait for Pete Leg End to find faults )
Guest gibbens1986 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Skuse was average...probaly the most average player today.
WRERE Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I was impressed with Skuse today and I also thought he deserved MoM, still not sure how Marv got it tbh
The Bard Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Skuse was average...probaly the most average player today. I thought Skuse showed again that right back is his best position. He was excellent, covering when he needed to and ensuring that we were able to build play down his side of the pitch. He used his left foot more than our left back today, which is worrying. In fact, given that he is decent with his left and has a good football brain, I think we'd have been better off with him left back and Spence on the right today. Spence is so one footed it's embarrassing. He was lost. He strikes me as not having a particular sharp football brain.
The Bard Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I was impressed with Skuse today and I also thought he deserved MoM, still not sure how Marv got it tbh If Marv could finish he'd be comparable to Lampard in terms of goals from midfield. He could have scored 4 or 5 today.
Dollymarie Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Dear god, what does he have to do to get the credit he deserves?
WRERE Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 If Marv could finish he'd be comparable to Lampard in terms of goals from midfield. He could have scored 4 or 5 today. Yes definitely, but he can't - but that's also like saying if Clarkson could finish he would be comparable to Rooney. Can't believe the header Marv missed in the first half

( Lets wait for Pete Leg End to find faults ) Like the clown who started a thread saying how shit Cisse was today. Probably these jokers have heard these players being slagged off when they DO have a bad game and then said dimwit just keeps repeating it game after game, whether they play badly or not. Pretty sad really.
hinsleburg Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I thought he looked good going forward and linked up well with Albert, however he had no idea where Tomlin was for most of the game which was worrying, would like to see ribs there next game.

We may have about 7 of them but Skuse is probably our best bet at RB. Personally I felt sorry for Spence, though. Surely the first rule as a manager should be to play people in a position that they feel comfortable in? Spence has probably never played LB before in his life. Hopefully with Wilson available on Tuesday Nyatanga will switch there, especially if McGivern is still out.
jambodinho Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 He just got nothing about him, not effective defending or going forward. I just pray the new man in charge doesn't play him just because hes bristolian like previous managers. I believe skuse is a decent player at this level but like Marv, Fonts, Campbell Ryce and a few others, I feel it would benefit both parties if they were to move on. All in the comfort zone and their careers have stagnated. They could all do a job at another championship club and a move would probably kickstart their careers again. But to say skuse is conference at best is ridiculous.
Red-Robbo Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 He just got nothing about him, not effective defending or going forward. I just pray the new man in charge doesn't play him just because hes bristolian like previous managers. Not effective defending - apart from when he cleared the ball off the line or won the ball from two goalward bound Posh players who were clear through in the box?!!! He was the pick of our defence today. I'd give Albert MoM but Skuser did himself proud. For some people on here it seems being a Bristolian means you can do no right. Maybe they should pop down to Broadmead and get themselves a Man U replica shirt.
GrenadaRed Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I think the acid test is how many other championship teams would Skuse get into. I don't know the answer, but I suspect not many. If he went on the transfer list, who would come in for him in this division and for what money? He's been very versatile for us and a loyal servant and it's great to see a local lad in the team, but I can't decide if he's exactly what we need to help us pull through, or exactly what we don't need in order to progress!
Sargent Pepper Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011
When will people take there tongues out his ass and see him for what he is, conference at best.

MOM ???? Adomah was a million miles better then skuse today.

I think some people need to give credit when it's due. Skuse was my mom today and I thought Albert lacked his spark, IMO of course
Donald Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Skuse for ME has been one of our most consistant players this season and has put in a number of excellent performances this season, One of the few to emerge with any credit

True enough..but surely a player of his alleged talent should be comfortably able to slip into any position in the back four and put in a performance. This is the Championship not the Champions league...
lager loud Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Skuse for ME has been one of our most consistant players this season and has put in a number of excellent performances this season, One of the few to emerge with any credit That's how I've seen it. I thought today, as in most of the games I've seen this season, Skuse was one of our best two or three players. I know that hasn't always been difficult, but it's still to his credit. Having said which, Cisse did a fine job in Skuse's more usual position. I'm convinced that if he'd still been on the pitch Peterborough wouldn't have got their second goal. MoM today? Albert, for me. Always looked a threat and kept going to the end, which he doesn't always manage.
GrahamC Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 True enough..but surely a player of his alleged talent should be comfortably able to slip into any position in the back four and put in a performance. This is the Championship not the Champions league... Why? He's clearly all right footed, not left. It's like asking McAllister to play RB, silly.
TRL Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Why? He's clearly all right footed, not left. It's like asking McAllister to play RB, silly. And he is a Centre back really. But I would expect any defender to be able to slot into any role in the back 4 and do the basics right though, as it is about position more than playing good balls. Granted making tackle with your weaker foot will be a little harder, but positioning should be exactly the same
glynriley Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Absolutely. We may have about 7 of them but Skuse is probably our best bet at RB. Personally I felt sorry for Spence, though. Hicksy-BCFC Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 When will people take there tongues out his ass and see him for what he is, conference at best. Totally agree. Fking average workhorse midfielder.
Guest bcfc kiers Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Do you honestly think he would play over 200 games if he was conference standard. He has been a regular for a number of our managers over the years, perhaps all you that slagging him off know better than all of them. Granted the only thing that is missing is goals, but if you actually watch him, you could see that he does things, not for himself but for the TEAM. Yes he's not a Messi , more like a Fletcher / Barry but for Christs sake give him credit
fka dagest Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I believe in giving credit where it's due and I've been critical of Skuse in the past, so yes, I too thought he was good yesterday. I much prefer him as a right back than in central mid.
Redhyde Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 He has to make the same conversion to full back as Bradley Orr if he wants to stay in the championship.

( Lets wait for Pete Leg End to find faults ) Made some good tackles but mom definetly not. He still can't pass and is still overrated but many.
notsobigfatdave Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Why? He's clearly all right footed, not left. It's like asking McAllister to play RB, silly. Whys it Silly? ....most of the Left backs in League football arent naturally left footed.
Bristol_South_End Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I thought Skuse played well yesterday, however the play did seem to slow down a lot when he received the ball, don't think he's that great at making quick decisions. But i'd rather he took his time than loose possession
gordie Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 personally i dont think Skuse is a great player but neither do i think he is 'conference' standard either. He is an average championship player who i think played well yesterday in his best position. He puts some good tackles in but when he plays in midfield his passing is 2 slow and quite often poor and costly.
bearded_red Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Two or three brilliant tackles from Skuse, but that didn't really surprise me. What did surprise me was how willing he was to get forward, often making room for Albert by distracting a Peterborough player with his run. He also put a few decent balls into the box, by no means amazing, but you can't really expect that!
bucksred Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 God almighty I ****** despair, best player on the day and STILL some people bitch about the bloke. The player who was Conference standard yesterday is bloody Maynard............closely followed by JCR
