Mrdc Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bristol-City-board-split-appointing-Mark-Robins/story-13580052-detail/story.html IF this is true it worries me a bit that SL wants Robins having not been involved in the interviews. Whereas I think Sextoy is in a much beter position to judge. i know that SL is the main investor but surely if wants to be involed in the decision making process he needs to get his backside over to Bristol and be involved in the interview process.
westonred Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Surely this is pure specualtion by the EP i'm sure SL would not have made public who is favourite is at this stage.
chipdawg Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 They've nicked that story off this forum and it was pure speculation when it was posted on here. I can't believe we'd allow the news on McInnes to go public if he wasn't favourite
Blagdon red Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Surely this is pure specualtion by the EP i'm sure SL would not have made public who is favourite is at this stage. Absolutely - pure, idle speculation by the EP. I am sure that nobody involved has given any indication to outsiders of their current favoured candidate. SL said when stepping down as chairman that he wanted the club run with more business-like structures and processes in the future and not so much like a one-man band, as it had been before with him making all the decisions, which - he recognised - was not healthy. In light of that, I would expect the interview panel to come to a collective decision and then advise SL of their choice.
billyboy50 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Surely this is pure specualtion by the EP i'm sure SL would not have made public who is favourite is at this stage. I'm not sure how true this is so it may rubbish , but i waz told firday by a mate who's mate is seeing the daughter of a board member that robins will get the job
TRL Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Lansdowns track record Is pretty poor and If he chooses robins IMO it will be a cheap nothing appointment AGAIN, I got a horrible feeling lansdown will get his way. The thought of robins actually depresses me and leaves me feeling the same as when millen was in charge. Pretty muchg Every Lansdown choice has been complete failure apart from Johnson. I would keep SL well away from the decision making process of our new manager.
Kingswood Robin Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Not even the AV system can sort this one out! I have to say that if it's really down to these 2, we should have made the appointment already. It's dragging on a bit now.
Red Cloud Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 "is thought to favour Robins" - says it all - they've just made it up
Esmond Million's Bung Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 This the usual BEP lazy journalism, recycling a rumour that appeared on this forum last week. For a start if any of the decision makers in the process of choosing the next manager, told the press who was their preferred option before the final interviews, then they are not fit to be in charge of our football club. The story is bollox.
TRL Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Who's this John Lansdown fella? Who slipped the h in, sloppy bep as per usual

The story is bollox. It wasn't even really a rumour, it was just fans knowing that SL has time for mark robins from his time at the club, and putting 2 + 2 together, Sl may think Robins is a lovely chap but a shite manager. We don't know. and neither does the EP (as per usual) They may as well instead of having a sports section, just print a few pages from the forum, as it would be about as reliable.
Guest ateyomike Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 mac hasnt even been to bristol yet when the story was written/ printed

As much as Im grateful to Steve Lansdown his decision making in the past has been awful
the1stknowle Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Agree with you on that. As much as Im grateful to Steve Lansdown his decision making in the past has been awful It's not even worth worrying about. The story seems to be taken from this forum posting: http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/140256-boardroom-power-stuggle/ Which starts off "I'm not saying there is but..." It's total speculation. The BEP seem to have no sources at the club. What we can see with our own eyes is a considered process by the board that SL seems to have removed himself from by going on holiday. For which he should be applauded. Why would he then come back from holiday and undo that process? Also, we should remember that Robins (we can assume) has made it through to the last 2 of the process so he is there on merit. If he gets picked after these interviews then fair enough. It doesnt mean this BEP story is correct and that SL has suddenly flipped and ignored the boards recommendation.
Rudolf Hucker Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Also note that on the selection panel is Keith Dawe who has made much of his fortune from recruitment and who has a tidy wedge of money invested in the club.

When did they last run a story that wasn't a re-hash from something on here or entirely based on speculation? If you read their "City reporter's" crap articles and hopeless match reports you'd never place any credence on anything they print. Very good point on Robins, too. If he gets it then it will be because he's the best candidate from the process we've chosen, not because of any "cheap option" nonsense, as why would we bother to interview McInnes if we weren't seriously considering appointing him? If it is Robins who gets the nod he'll deserve (and need) our full support.
