Guest Livingston Red Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Maybe just Maybe... Although nothing is a given in football.... Surely this is the time to be bold and give the club and it's fans a real lift.... McInnes is 'big news' and if we don't get him, then we could rue the decision in years to come... These are the words following Saturdays game.... Surely we as a club, cannot miss the opportunity to employ one of the up and coming young managers around today.... The excitement and belief would flow around the club.... Can the same be said if Robins is appointed... No poignant goodbyes, no heart-felt gestures. Deep down, the St Johnstone fans fear Derek McInnes is gone. As far as McInnes is concerned though, nothing has been decided yet. One thing IS for certain. If Bristol City chairman Colin Sexstone doesn't handcuff McInnes to the job the minute he walks into Ashton Gate, he's mental. St Johnstone were fourth-bottom of the First Division when McInnes and trusty sidekick Tony Docherty took over from Owen Coyle. Four years on, they're a point off third in the SPL. And all done on a shoe-string budget. The only surprise is a club even bigger than City haven't poached the former West Brom and Rangers midfielder before now. Still, nothing is guaranteed and until that contract is signed, sealed and delivered then this highly-rated manager will be desperate to avoid setting himself up for a fall. And even if he DOESN'T get the job, Saints defender Dave Mackay reckons his gaffer will be gone sooner rather than later. He said: "We've all thought it will only be a matter of time. He's a great young manager. "Teams are interested in him and if he goes, then good luck to him. "The gaffer has done a great job here. He's left the club in a really good state for someone else. "We obviously want him to stay but it's a big chance for him. "He's a winner. Every day everything has to be good." The chance to manage in the Championship would be hard to turn down but, considering the way Saints are going right now, staying wouldn't be a hardship if it came to it.
Guest Livingston Red Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 This is the interesting line..... He is going to get a move... lets hope its with us... The only surprise is a club even bigger than City haven't poached the former West Brom and Rangers midfielder before now.
Rocky Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 EP article about SL preferring Robins scares me.
SC_Red Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 the club would be brave to appoint robins given the fact fans seem far more in favour of mcinnes. Robins will get little time to prove himself from some fans because he's not the man people believe in I'd say.
Kid in the Riot Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 EP article about SL preferring Robins scares me. SL needs to step aside on this one. He hasn't been part of the interview process as he's been on holiday and he arguably got the last two appointments wrong. Think it's fairly well known that SL is a fan of Robins but he shouldn't be able to pull rank over the new board's decision who have been engaged in the process a lot more closely than SL.
Port Said Red Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 EP article about SL preferring Robins scares me. When did any of us start believing the BEP?

To be fair, if you bankroll a club - then you pretty much have the right to say who should come in.

Funny though that there was a thread on here simply speculating that this may be the case last week - one wonders whether otib may be the source of said BEP article?

I totally agree, he's got the last two wrong and what is the point of having board members if your going to stick to your decision. Please Steve let Colin make the appointment of Del.
