Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 By all accounts, the decision has been made, but nothing will be announced until contracts have been finalised and signed (obviously) Possibly Wednesday, more likely Thursday. For me, this would point to DMc, purely because if he had not been offered the job, surely he would be back at SJ stating business as usual...?! I have never known anything be kept so secret, with NO leaks getting out to anyone. Quite impressive really, even if it is VERY frustrating! Either way - C.O.Y.R!!
SJC Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 How do you know no announcement today? Agree it would tend to suggest McInnes, although finer details need to be thrashed either way clearly.

Murraysrightplum Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 By what accounts? Surely an announcement would lift the squad before tonight's game. Unless it's Hope Powell. Or Paul Buckle
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 The same place as I get any of my info from. It is as reliable a source as anything out there. As with most people, I can't/Won't name names, but many on here know where I am today and who I speak to.

Kingswood Robin Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 According to one of the st johnstone fans on here - he is back in perth. Saying his goodbyes? I'm still none the wiser, they may not want any distractions today as it's a matchday.
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 According to one of the st johnstone fans on here - he is back in perth. I suppose he would back up there really, either way. That is why my thinking (pure assumption) would be that if he was not the man offered the job, then he would be back to "business as usual" at SJ and they have been happy to make things public so far. Whereas if we had insisted on no announcement, then they would be obliged to keep it quite until signed and sealed.

Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 "NO leaks getting out to anyone" but you know this? I have no idea who has got it, other wise I would say. It seems nobody outside of the candidates and the board know the decision - hence "no leaks".
Kingswood Robin Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I've got a leak, in my car radiator. I had a leak a couple of times yesterday, neither would tell me who the next manager was!
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 ignore this Why, do you kow something more than I do about this? The part you highlighted was my opinion of the situation, not what i was told by reliable source. The rest however, I have been told and have no reason to doubt.
Alex#40 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 You wouldn't turn up for a job interview (especially in a different country) with your bags packed, Mrs and kids in the car and ready to stay there for the rest of your life would you??? If McInnes is the man (hopefully he is) then he would have to go home and at very least get some clothes etc for the press conference etc. Him being in Perth today means nothing.
Bubble Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Was literally just looking at the odds on oddschecker and skybet was there one minute and i watched it clear itself, maybe its all done.

Then noticed that you and "BS3" were two seperate posters. I changed my post to just say ignore what I was saying.
Guest Wendy Who? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Maybe he came back to Perth to get his fancy pen?

Guest handsofclayOLD Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Like other posters I would think any delay in naming the manager points to McInnes having got the job. We have been informed that a decision would be made last night; and I assume the successful candidate informed and then details of the contract being discussed etc. I can't imagine, seeing McInnes, if he was unsuccessful, would then be still manager of St.Johnstone, that he would allow the fans of the Saints and players to think he is on his way when he isn't. Those couple of days keeping it under wraps could do all sorts of damage to preparations for the Saints next game. It possibly points to the fact that City are now negotiating with St.Johnstone about compo. They do not want to unveil him as manager until it has all been sorted out. Possibly Robins is keeping quiet as City will fall back on him if it does not get sorted out. I do hope this is the scenario anyway. I will applaud the board if they have appointed McInnes. We will all be in it together then.
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hasn't it already been said that there will be no announcement as it would disrupt today's pre match preparation. No source needed for that bit of info.
CotswoldRed Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I've got a leak, in my car radiator. Bit of Radweld will solve that. Won't solve the club's problems though ...

Delaying the announcement will give him time to pack up, say his goodbyes, be fresh for the interviews etc when the announcement is made.
Portishead Red Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I've got a leak, in my car radiator. Funny you should mention that dolls, my waterpump is being repaired today due to a leak! I think that means that Mark Robbins has the job!
Guest handsofclayOLD Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 To put my earlier point across more clearly, the longer we hear nothing from Perth, the more it looks like McInnes will be appointed our next manager. For why would Del keep quiet about not being appointed, he would then owe his loyalty to St.Johnstone not to Bristol City (who would've turned him down)?

No source needed for that bit of info. Has it? I hadn't seen that stated anywhere. Source? I had actually fully expected it to be anounced today in order to give the players a lift and reason to impress in tonights game, as is often the case with a new man in charge. I didn't expect them to be in charge of the team, but thought they would be in the stands to cast an eye over the team. Whoever it is, neither Robins or McInnes are expected to be at the game tonight.
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Skybet just twitted We have suspended betting on Derek McInnes being named the next Bristol City manager .. And Robins, or just McInnes? With a decision having been made, I would say that speaks volumes for who has got the job, if indeed only one of them has had betting suspended.
ben91tucker Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 JUst had a text that sky bet have suspended betting on mcinnes next manager.
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 McInnes, but you already knew that, yeah?

Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 McInnes, but you already knew that, yeah? No. Ive already said that I don't know who had the job. What is it with you?
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 St Johnstone press conference at 3pm. Let's see if this gets deleted as it did this morning ;-)
Slave to the rhythm Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 St Johnstone press conference at 3pm. To unveil Keith Millen as their new manager.
semblar Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 St Johnstone press conference at 3pm. Lets hope it's not to announce Del's ongoing commitment to them......
The Casual Connoisseur Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 No. Ive already said that I don't know who had the job. What is it with you? Me, nothing! Thought you knew that's all, no drama.
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 St Johnstone press conference at 3pm. This would suggest why betting on McInnes has been suspended. Could just as easily be to say that he is staying put after talks with us. Hopefully it is to announce his resignation!
Riaz Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 This would suggest why betting on McInnes has been suspended. Could just as easily be to say that he is staying put after talks with us. Hopefully it is to announce his resignation! Or to announce that Gary McCallister is there new manager
Guest Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Er the topic on the StJ forum titled 'Press Conference at 3pm' then goes on to say 'The stone roses are reforming'
Superjack Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 St Johnstone press conference at 3pm. This worries me. If he's got the job, why are we not announcing it? Are we really going to let St. Johnstone announce it to the world? Not a good sign IMO.

Not saying ive been told nothing but this could just be because city asked SJ to keep it quiet as there was only 2 in the running and if they announced hes still there then it would be obvious MR has the job. Just a thought
Superjack Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Er the topic on the StJ forum titled 'Press Conference at 3pm' then goes on to say 'The stone roses are reforming' Phew...
kingswood red Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 St Johnstone press conference at 3pm. ?? Not on official Saints site or fans forum.
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Me, nothing! Thought you knew that's all, no drama. No, I only know what i have said that i know. The press conference certainly makes it more likely to be McD, but like i said, it could be to announce that he is staying put. With SJ, again (totally entitled to do so, so not critisism) coming out first with breaking news, as they did with the thumbs up to approach McInnes, this could actually lead to an earlier announcement from us, than I said this morning. Although it would make sense to announce it tomorrow, if contracts are finalised, should he resign from SJ at 3pm today. I assume he will not get to London intime for tonights game, which wouldn't look great if he was to be officially announced today. We shall see!
RedM Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Er the topic on the StJ forum titled 'Press Conference at 3pm' then goes on to say 'The stone roses are reforming' It was on here for a while and I binned it, only because some wise-guy started a new topic with that 'announcement' and for the sake of sanity I didn't want people logging on and reading poor taste info. Yes normally it might be funny but on something as important as this, especially for people who are trying to read on phones etc, common sense maybe?

I agree, if it had been part of a thread I prob would have left it, maybe I should have merged it in with one of the many, many topics. I just read it and thought 'ha ha, idiot' and thought I'd save people from doing the same.

Guest Wendy Who? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Sorry guys, reported on Radio Scotland that there will be no announcement until Thursday. Poor show from the point of view of Saints and Bristol City fans alike. This is more likely to have came from the board of Bristol City than ourselves so for your sake, I'd hate to think someone like Portsmouth may nip in while they dither.
RedM Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I see your point, I had a little chuckle as it relieved the tension somewhat. Most exciting time in ages, until the relegation battle. I've had enough of exciting times now, just want to get a manager in place and get on with things now. I've almost forgotten we have a match tonight. People must be getting a bit stir crazy as it seems the press conference is to announce a sex change for me!
Murraysrightplum Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 So let's get this straight the Sone Roses are reforming with Derek McInnes as lead singer and RedM on the drums. John Squire insisted that RedM have a sex change to keep the image of the band?

Ties in with what I put in the OP. This says to me that it IS McInnes and that we are just sorting out the contract (rather than dithering) Both clubs would/should have an agreement to hold off any announcement until things ae signed and sealed. If BOTH clubs are keeping quiet until Wednesday/Thursday then I would be amazed if it was not McInnes' job.

Hopefully it is to announce his resignation! Skybet is not an exchange as far as I know, so it only profits from laying bets. As such, it wouldn't be much of a business if it suspended betting on knowledge McInnes was staying put, as that would be akin to refusing free money from punters backing something that won't happen.
TRL Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 your just paranoid after copout.. Although I don't blame you! I will always have that feeling at the back of my mind whenever we appoint a manager Well if he can stomach years in brum, he must be made of stronger stuff than coppell.

Maybe a £2million bet placed by a Mr C Sexstone, to generate some transfer funds, caused them to close the betting on him?!
