Southport Red Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Just wanted to say that the guests from SJFC on here over the last few days have added immeasureably to the fun of using this forum. I would like to declare that, as of this moment, St. Johnstone are my number 2 team and my number 1 team in Scotland. (whether McInness signs or not) If enough otib-ers feel similarly, we should pressure the club to arrange pre-season friendlies between the sides from now on and get 'half-and-half' scarves made. Who else is in?
Guest Wendy Who? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Very kind words. To be perfectly honest, if Del does get the job, I think it would be very likely that our chairman would secure a pre-season friendly as part of the deal. We did the same when Coyle left.
Guest Wendy Who? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 And by choosing The Super J's as your team you are automatically bound by law to despise everything about and anyone associated with Dundee. Including the cake.

Nonsense.

'Orns Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Echo that Southport, really enjoyed all the Saints fans coming on here over the last couple of weeks Absolutely no chip on their shoulder, not here to start arguments - just for a good chat about football, which is how it should be Definately growing a soft spot for them right now, but someone will have to persuade me big time if I'm to drop the mighty Berwick Rangers as my 'Scottish' team......!
Ron Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Haven't seen a fan base so measured or welcoming in a long while, I've got no personal links to Scotland and have always liked St Johnstone for being the (with respect) plucky outsiders, but will definitely follow your pursuit of the evil old firm from now on.
Rudolf Hucker Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 It has certainly been good to see the banter between the two sets of supporters. They have been very welcome indeed. On a tenuously related matter, I logged on to the SJ OS to see if there was any news of note on there and saw this ... I thought that perhaps SJFC and BCFC could jointly apply as neither team has ever won a cup worthy of any note? It would certainly give Clydesdale Bank some publicity! WIN THE CLYDESDALE BANK PREMIER LEAGUE TROPHY FOR A DAY Clydesdale Bank are always looking for new ways to bring their sponsorship of the Scottish Premier League closer to local communities and they are offering you a unique opportunity to win the Clydesdale Bank Premier League trophy for a day. Alex#40 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 St Johnstone will be my new Scottish team going forward I think...if we get D Mac signed on.

Firstly Woodsy, and probably most importantly, Berwick are and ENGLISH club mate. They just play in the Scottish league and secondly you need to be careful as the town of Berwick upon Tweed is still at war with the might of RUSSIA. By nailing your colours to there mast there is a slight chance that should the conflict escalate again you might find you are targeted and end up with an Intercontinental balistic Missile right up yer chuff!!!!!! Who else is in? Co-sign. Even though they have a Spaniard up front and wear the blue of FC Porto, I declare them my Scottish team. I have no idea where Perth is and previous to this week I'm not sure it had even really sunk in that St. Johnstone and St. Mirren were actually different teams, but I now feel far better informed and grateful for the learning experience from their fans, who seem to have a lot of class. When If Mark Robins is appointed manager this whole link-up will seem a lot more surreal.

Murraysrightplum Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Top lads!!! They could easily have been bitter about losing a good manager (Maynard to Leicester anyone ) Anyway we'll hate Dundee if you hate Rovers and Cardiff?

Port Said Red Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I have been impressed by the StJ supporters and I will follow their results more closely but I am afraid my Scottish club is, and will remain, the "the Blue Brazil" (Cowdenbeath) to the uninitiated for reasons too obscure to enter into here.

Guest Wendy Who? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Top lads!!! They could easily have been bitter about losing a good manager (Maynard to Leicester anyone ) Anyway we'll hate Dundee if you hate Rovers and Cardiff? We're not bitter because we know our role, most of us anyway. We will always be a selling club, of both players and managers. We have no illusions about what we can achieve, unlike our beloved neighbours up the road (both UTD and Dee). We are a small and particularly well-run club, probably always will be. We have our ups and downs (mostly downs) like most clubs which makes pumping teams like the Old Firm even sweeter. PS - just DO NOT even think about stealing Franny Sandaza from us or our mood could quickly change
Superjack Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 That means I'll never get to shag Lorraine Kelly ! She was crap anyway.....
Guest The Ghost of Jim Morton Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hang on so is it Dundee or Dundee Utd? Or both?!!! Rodgering Lorriane Kelly is still on the cards. She's an Arab and on the whole, they are just about ok.. This is a pic of yer average Dundee fan walking to a home game..
TRL Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Time to invade Dees and United board and show our loathing for them I reckon. They'll not know what hit em, or undertand why a load of yokels from Brizzle are clogging up their boards
... Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I am enjoying this thread almost as much as my recent St Johnstone match thread. So. What does BS3 think? Has he 'worked it out yet'??
Guest sdc1978 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Definitely made the forums more enjoyable lately, cheers chaps! What's Jody Morris like for you boys? Could he cut it in the Championship these days if we pinched him?
Guest SJFC Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Definitely made the forums more enjoyable lately, cheers chaps! What's Jody Morris like for you boys? Could he cut it in the Championship these days if we pinched him? He's crap. League 2 standard, not good enough, he should definitely stay at St Johnstone... HANDS OFF!
Superjack Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Just added St.Johnstone to my favourite teams on Facebook. It's official.
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I am enjoying this thread almost as much as my recent St Johnstone match thread. So. What does BS3 think? Has he 'worked it out yet'?? I think it is great that we are forming an affinity with another club and the feelings seem to be fairly mutual - it's the good side of football. What is it you want me to work out exactly? There is no Bristol City home match currently being played?
Guest Wendy Who? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Definitely made the forums more enjoyable lately, cheers chaps! What's Jody Morris like for you boys? Could he cut it in the Championship these days if we pinched him? Jody has been arguably one of the best midfielders in the SPL IMO. Personally though, I think that doesn't quite mean he would cut it at Championship level. He's a class above much of the dross in our league and was a masterstroke from Del when he managed to get him on board. I said it elsewhere on your forum but I think the only player Del may be back in for is out fearless central midfielder Murray Davidson. A young lad who has atrracted interest from one half of the ugly sisters (Rangers) and broken into the international setup which is almost unheard of for a club like us. He has a big future and was another of Del's signings.
'Orns Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 We are ALL Bristol city ******* love you guys I'm about to facebook and twitter everything St Johnstone I really should be working though.......

Southport Red Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 If City fans need another reason to like SJFC One of their close rivals is Dundee United - nickname - THE ARABS!! (Note to SJFC poster - Bristol Rovers are sometimes known as the Black Arabs). So following the logic of 'My enemy's enemy is my friend...'
jambodinho Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I shall definitely being starting a save game as St Johnstone on football manager 2012
Guest Wendy Who? Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Our other rivals Dundee FC are also frequently known as 'The Soap Dodgers' due to their unkempt appearance, putrid stench and general unpleasantness. Hence the famous joke: Q: How can you tell when a Dundonian woman has an orgasm? A: She drops her bag of chips.
NOTR Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Does that mean I can't eat Dundee marmalade,to which i'm quite partial.
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I have always had a completely irrational dislike for both Dundee and Dundee Utd because their grounds are simply too close to each other and i'm never sure which club is which. Anyway, how can Dundee Utd be "United" when the view out of their boardroom window overlooks Dundee FC. - Nonsense!! (Yes, I know other cities have a "united" despite having more than one club. That is stupid as well, but the Dundee example is topical!)
Bar BS3 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Does that mean I can't eat Dundee marmalade,to which i'm quite partial. I'm sure you can get away with eating it, as long as no SJ fans ever find out about it.... DOH

(Prize: tickets for two at the opener at Ashton Gate against Maidstone Utd, next season ............ )
Chivs Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 And by choosing The Super J's as your team you are automatically bound by law to despise everything about and anyone associated with Dundee. May the A90 permanently stop at Inchture (Google maps - woohooo!)
Guest henryhallsdanceband Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Thought I join the merry (or maybe not so if you get Del) little band of Super Saintees invading your forum. I lived in Bristol for 12 yrs so know the place pretty well - though I have to admit to living in digs in Lockleaze (yes I know..) when I first came down. Unfortunately this meant that my first taste of Bristol football was watching the Gas at Eastville - but then did watch you lot a bit. Mind you the biggest crowd I was in at Ashton Gate was for Billy Graham

Guest The Real Saints Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Have to admit I had an irrational dislike for Bristol City for potentially depriving us of our manager.
