Port Said Red Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Like many people I am pleased that our board have gone down the route of picking the young and upcoming man at the right time for once. successive boards have missed these sort of opportunities before and it does give everyone an more optimistic feelling. So much so in fact, that another defeat on Tuesday and our position in the league seems to have almost become irrelevancies! I would like to think in the short term that the new man will be able to transmit his personal self confidence to the current crop of players, to me that seems to be the area we are most lacking and I am pretty confident that a reasonable run of results will pull us away from the bottom. It's a well worn cliche that anyone can beat anyone in this league, but thats because it's true and it's also likely that there will continue to be very little, in terms of points, between 20th and 10th well into March/April. Long term however, there is still a lot of work to be done. I feel our biggest mistake or failure has been that inability to keep the squad evolving in the right direction since the play off defeat and it some ways I feel it's a processs that needs to be started all over again. We all think we know where this bloated squad is over staffed and where it is lacking, but it will be interesting to see how a new man with fresh ideas and no pre-conceptions utilises this current squad. We may be surprised at what we have available to us that has yet to be used correctly. It will take a while and I am sure there will be mistakes and unpopular decisions made along the way, but I do hope that this currently level of euphoria and support is maintained for McInnes and that, FOR ONCE the City fans will show some patience while it happens.
Murraysrightplum Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I hope he is given time. Even if we go down (which I don't think we will), I believe he is the right man for the job. Young, hungry manager with confidence who can motivate the players is exactly what we need...
Frenchay Red Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Although I am very pleased that McInnes has got the job, and he was my preferred candidate, I can't help but feel that there is an awful lot of expectation for him to make an immediate impact. We have so often been the graveyard of those who previously showed talent elsewhere, certainly on the playing side of things. I hope and pray that this is not the case with DM, and if things don't improve and we do go down then we give him the time to rebuild. Good luck DM, and welcome to Bristol!
Guest terjon Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Welcome news for the club, personally think its a great appointment, needs to be given time to suss out what the players and build his own team, In the short trem he can lift the supporters and team spirit, hopefully this will pull us away from the drop zone, I believe he will motivate these player much better and build in a belief and confidence that is clearly lacking. But if we do go down and I mean IF, because the players simply are not good enough he should be given time to build his own team, Norwich & Southampton have been relegated and come back stronger than ever so it wont be a dissater provided we given him time. goodluck derek
054123 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I too can't wait for the McInnes era to start and am excited by Sunday more than any other game in the last 12 months. That said, i'm not naieve enough to discount the probable outcome of Sunday is a Brum win by 1 or 2 goals.
