Aw schucks !! I thought he loved me for a minute !!

Yep, got mine. Nice touch, and getting the fans on board straight away. Got my ticket and travelling down from London on Sunday - can't wait!

To those who didint receive it heres what he says;

I am delighted to be Bristol City's new manager and look forward to leading our club up the npower Championship table. It's a very big club with a fantastic fanbase and history, to which I am very keen to add.

We have a great opportunity here at City and with your continued and valued support, I believe anything is possible - I'm very excited by the challenge ahead. The club has a culture where people are encouraged to be the best they can be and we must all now put the start of the season behind us and look forward to our future.

On Sunday (October 23rd), we take on Birmingham City at home in our next big Championship fixture and I very much look forward to seeing you there. I'd like as many fans as possible to be at the Gate to really show this league what we're capable of. Please encourage as many friends and family to come down and give the lads your support. Tickets are available online and by phone.

I look forward to seeing you there.

And I'm sure he sat down and composed that himself.

I had two

One of them must be mine!

Actually I'm not sure the club have my email address.

No-one can criticise the club for trying to attract a bigger crowd on Sunday. Nice idea to send email sent by the new manager.

Yes, DM, actually sat down and composed that email.

Eastonboy: what a muppet.

Was that comment necessary?

You better check your email mucker - I believe a Nigerian princess is waiting to get her hands on her inheritance, she just needs £10,000 of your money and your bank details so she can return the money along with a nice little cherry on top :innocent06:

It's like a letter from Santa, we all like it when we get one but know it wasn't the great man who sent it!!!!

Exactly, although you shouldn't have shattered the dreams of the posters on here with ideas like the big fat man doesn't exist.

It was a very well written e-mail. Everyone starts with a clean slate as far as he's concerned and that's the way it should be. The very best of luck for Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty - they'll certainly need it to pull this club out of the mire of the past few months.

Seriously, lighten up. Who gives a damn if it was sent by our Marketing Dept. Maybe McInnes actually had some input and suggested it to be an idea to get fans down for his first game. He may not have actually typed the email out of course! I think it's a good idea and the kind of thing the club should be doing to get everyone pulling together when we need to support them.

Why do people ALWAYS have to be so bloody cynical? For just one day, let's be positive and stop looking to pick faults in every little thing.

I am usually pretty cynical...but I confess I was delighted to get the email...and have forwarded to my lads at their unis

A bit like the Christmas Day message to fans all over the world...

One of those bits of marketing that does remind you that you're part of a bigger City community.

Hi. You won't have heard of me, my name's Chris and I'm a marketing operative at Ashton Gate Ltd. I'd appreciate it if you would come to AG this weekend as we're short on numbers.

Best regards

That'd go down well I'm sure

Anyone replied????

I've told him

A) nicky hunt is rubbish

B) always clap the east end

C) don't upset Robbored

No response yet?

bloody hell, the miserable sods come out again! lighten up guys

I'm genuinely excited about the potential of the new Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty BCFC management team and they must have had input into that e-mail.

To which my reply would be -

Hi,

Thanks for your email Chris, but as you are undoubtedly aware, my son and I are already season ticket holders, so there is no need to include me in your marketing campaign.

Nor do I require a kid a quid, nor do I require £10 match tickets - please see the reply above.

Yours sincerely

Grumpy cynical guts.

Come on Gobbers. It as obvious as German biltzkreig

:clapping: Yes, but I genuinely want to believe. I still remember the e-mail we all got from Scott Davidson when he resigned as Chairman and that seemed genuine enough.

Great artwork RG - your talents are wasted on this forum.

Any chance of a flag of this for the Atyeo on sunday!

Getting on topic - atleast the emails/texts show the marketing department can show a bit of initiative occassionally.

Now that IS good marketing.

Football is a business, and SL is not Father Christmas, the sooner we harden up and compete the better.

If you look at my previous posts you'll see that I'm under no illusions!

But it's nice just once in a while to get carried away with the romance that presumably got us interested in City in the first place...

To your point - McInnes has the look and sound of a man designed to compete and used to winning...unlike the previous incumbent...

Posted

He does Red and I hope he can deliver like Santafingerscrossed.gif We all need a lift and I do feel encouraged, I was the miserable sod that was condemned on here criticising Coppell' for not attending the last two matches of that season.

Everyone it seems was getting too carried away.

I do feel this guy is worth a chance though, but let's all be a bit realistic.

Hey - it's Bristol City - realism is the order of the day!

Looking forward to Sunday...even though I can't see us winning....

Exactly how I feel. This guy isn't suddenly the Messiah - but he comes with a good track record and sounds like he could do a very good job for us. It's a new era and we should all rally round now - it won't be easy, we might not even get a point on Sunday, but I'm happy we've made a progressive appointment and I'm feeling positive about the future again. It's been a rotten 2 years to be a City fan, so forgive people for perhaps getting a bit carried away- it's nice to be looking forward to a fresh start. :fingerscrossed:

This email is a really nice touch and for those who think McInnes has nothing to do with it, just ask yourself whether you got anything similar when Coppout or Millen took over. Del has a reputation for building strong links with supporters and he has already made a good start. Really looking forward to welcoming him on Sunday.

You're lucky.....down ere in rural somerset we still rely on the Post Office Mail.....got a letter yesterday from Peter Doherty welcoming me to AG and that they would do all in their power to keep Big John at the club, the miserable s**s from the Royal Mail even charged excess postage as it had a 2d stamp on it :ranting::ranting:

Only a win on Sunday will make me forgive that error, or he can call me and just talk Scots down the phone!

i had a message from a Doctor McInnes from Nigeria saying that i have just won the lottery in his country.

Have just emailed him my bank details and am looking forward to him wiring through my winnings.

Is Nigeria anywhere near Perth?

Posted

No it doesn't it smacks of commercialism, get things right first then start emailing fans, otherwise we could be setting ourselves up for a big fall.

It's gonna take time IF we can get out of this hole, but what I want to see is the fans getting some value, and the players wanting to do well for the fans, and some pride in the shirt until then, nothing changes.

The commercial department should keep their e.mails on hold, and let the results do the selling.

Jeez........The club have done their bit. I think its a fair shout to try and get the support to show up for Sunday and for what its worth i think they will, even if the e-mail hadn`t been sent. By all means sit at home and wait to see how things pan out if thats your want, but don`t start ragging on those who are prepared to start with a clean slate and get behind the team from the off.

I'm sure that if DM was to phone you up and talk Scottish down the phone, you'd let him get away with calling you Spongebob Squarepants.
