West Ham Travel/parking Advice?

Just debating what's the best way of getting to the ground (and out?) on Tuesday night? How are people driving from Bristol doing it?

Usually London games we park around the Chiswick Park area and get the tube in. To Upton Park/East Ham takes an hour or so quite easily on the District line with no changes. Note: don't go off at the 'West Ham' tube station, as it's still a bit of a walk away.

OR: is it best to drive and park somewhere? Congestion charge?

Thanks for your help.

Use the North circular and you don't get anywhere near the CG. Alternatively, use the A40 or the M25 / M11.

Parking at or near the ground is street parking IIRC but watch out for residents permits as I gather the parking enforcement officers are 'lively' when the 'Ammers are at home.

TBH, I wouldn't drive to the ground but take my chances on the tube.

I'm not a Londoner but spend alot of time working up there. I'm sure the locals would know more.

Hello mate. I live about 3 or 4 minute walk from the ground. The traffic is pretty bad on a normal day but on match day is it terrible. Parking is not easy either as it is resident parking. I would personally park in West London and get the District line to Upton Park or East Ham. East Ham is probably better for pubs for away supporters and not as congested as Upton Park. I would imagine it would be a lot easier getting home as well.

Im getting the train back from Paddington at 11.30pm - Not sure wether to walk to Plaistow or East Ham tube station and get the Hammersmith line - West Ham website say that the police advise walking to Plaistow but would rather be walking with some fellow reds - will there be many travelling up by train? :)

I have been to Whams ground several times in the last 12 years as my Brother and Uncle are season ticket holders.

We always go A40 M40 M25 park in Romford at the Next Generation Tennis club and get a Taxi down the A11

We are the Gloucester side of Bristol though so the M4 for us is not an option..Its a pig of a place to get to by Car which ever way you go.

If theres a few of you in the car though it makes the journey bareable.

Its a absolute nightmare trying to get a tube link after the game as the queue can stretch for a good hour down the Queens road. You can leg it to Plaistow which is 10 minutes walk

However although heavily policed on match days its best to avoid the Tube links.

Stay off the North circ. Massive road works at Henley's Corner causing huge delays and it is always rammed from about 1630.
