Neil Kilkenny - Sell Him

I appreciate this is going to piss people off.....

He is too small, too lightweight, and too weak to play in a 2 man midfield.....meaning we have to play 3 in the middle to compensate him......

We need another creative player.....someone who will create, while also being strong enough to perform other roles in the middle.....

Look at Andrews, Trotter, Yeates etc.....just as creative.....but score more goals and are not such a LIABILITY that the team cant play 442 with them in it.

Not saying you are right, but we were warned by a Leeds fan on here, about what we were getting.

He was our best player today until taken off what does that say about the rest then

He is a good player....BUT, he cannot play in a midfield 2. If we want to play 442 (which at home we MUST do) we are going to have to go with Cisse and Elliott (!!!!!!) because he just isnt strong enough in that role.....

We have a weak midfield.

We could play 6 across the middle and not win enough second phase and not be strong enough to break things up. The upside is McInnes knows this and will bring one or two in to change it, however you have got to start thinking some of our substitutions have been, not to put to fine a point shocking...Cissee the other week and today Killkenny were our best players and Mr. McInnes has taken them off...

Today, and I know this is debatable, I was amazed that Maynard started. Lets be honest if you have put in what effectively is a transfer request your head is not going to be in it, because no one will buy you with an injury...Simple! Brett and Stead have earned their start and you know they will do there best...Hopefully we can get behind them on Friday!!!

Anyway Saints away next Friday and fingers crossed we can get something and then three new players in the window...

We're not an attractive club right now so I'd say it's near on impossible for us to improve creatively than through Kilkenny.

Yes - it is obvious that he is too weak to play in a 2 man central midfield, but as a club it is very unlikely we will sign a player of Paul Hartley's quality any time soon thus we must continue with the best playmaker we have which is Kilkenny and accomodate him as best possible in the team.

Yep get rid of him, this fallacy that he is a creative genius is wearing a little thin now. We play a formation to accommodate him and he offers very little. I think I remember 1 goal coming from a good Kilkenny pass, the problem is we do not seem to be even creating chances, let alone scoring, our threat is coming pedominantly from Albert or scrambles from Corners.

I do not see how he can continue to justify his place. people bang on about him being the best passer, well I would like to see the benefit we as a team offensively get from Killa, as he has now started dropping deeper and deeper and becomes less and less effectual. Apart from a 3 match run where he actually stayed further up the pitch I am failing to see how he his helping this current team that looks like it is being assembled around him!

Yes he maybe a god passer, but as a team we do not benefit from him as far as I can see

We can play one up front when he's in the team, but not when he's as deep as he was today. Either you got home very quickly today or you didn't see how he affected the game even then... Beautifully lofted through ball to Albert in the first half stands out.

We can't as we do not have a striker that can play the loan role. And as you say he is going to deep, he should either get a free role or be told to stay further up the pitch.

I am of the opinion he is not a good enough passer to build a team around, which we seem to be doing to accommodate him. If he was an outstanding stand out creative passer, fair enough, but he just isn't, he is good, just not good enough to Justify the formation being played at the moment

Edit, No I didn't go today, I was seeing family I haven't seen for a couple of years. I am just passing opinion of what I have seen of him so far this season.

Maynard can play the lone role for now, it's the system that is failing him, not the other way around. When our entire midfield lies deep and Albert + whoever was supposedly was playing left-wing today play miles off him, he's ineffective. At Barnsley & Millwall we played it superbly, packed the midfield and allowed Kilkenny, Adomah and Woolford to support Maynard from the channels & in behind.

Kilkenny is without a doubt the best passer at the club, he sees passes others don't and carries them out with aplomb, why he was sat inside the centre-circle for half the game today is beyond me.

I don't disagree wit you here, if Maynard was supported better he would score, Albert is the only person who attempts to get forward to support. We should have a minimum of 3 at anyone time able to exert pressure on a defence with our current formation, but we don't, is it the players not doing their job, or is it the manager telling players to sit deep?!

Big difference is a deep lying Killa, as soon as he plays like he has done in the past 4 games we look poor offensively, and like i say we cannot afford to accommodate him playing like that, even if he is the best passer at the club. 1. he is following orders, in which case I am not sure what to say! Seems just plain wrong 2. He is doing his own thing and needs a massive kick up the ass

IMHO, the only way Kilkenny can be accomodated into 4 4 2 is by playing wide. We played Noble on the right in the play offs - he's not exactly a winger either. With 4 4 2 you can only afford one out and out winger unless you are vastly superior to the opposition and we patently aren't. I didn't see today's game but I am getting less and less impressed with Pearson by the game. Might be worth shifting Albert to the left and Kilkenny to the right - Albert's set up 2 goals from the left this season with crosses. We are able to dominate possession with 4 5 1, but the ball doesn't stick up top so we don't get midifielders up to support, leaving Maynard isolated. This is why Del Boy wants someone to lead the line and is putting Stead on the bench even though he's probably not match fit.

At home Id rather have a midfield two who can keep the ball. Elliot cannot do this. Id rather keep kilkenny and sell elliot. Hard working midfielders are a dime a dozen and his reputation will demand a higher price.

Kilkenny is the only player we have in midfield who can pass the ball, we either choose direct football with big man up top or we play nice slick passing football. I don't mind either way and both have very strong merits but I just wish people on here would decide which they want. For me its the latter, in which case I' rather sell Elliot.

I do realise that this may not be most peoples preferred option but from what i've read people would rather have a short passing game. Elliot is not the man for this but would be great for away games and last 20 mins of home games.

Kilkenny is a very good technical player and selling him would be a huge step backwards for me

We are weak in midfield, this is a given. This is compounded by the fact both Millen and now McInnes feel that the only way we can be effective to any degree is play a 451 and the only player we have that can play upfront on his own is Maynard...What a nightmare to be in after all of these years...

Thus if you look closeky at the whole team we can say we

Are weak in goal

We have a RB who is playing out of position just to give experience to the inexperienced (young) backline particularly without Fontaine, while sending our best RB to Carlisle and with a club captain that struggles to make the reserve team...

A midfield that couldn't win a raffle if they had all the tickets, containing the option of three dwarves (Johnson, JCR and Kilkenny) a left winger who left his form at S****horpe, Elliot who left his form at Wembley and Cissee who can break things up but has to play to deep to do anything else to effect the game!!

Upfront we have a striker who wants to leave and two more that cant play because we are so crap everywhere else they cant be accomodated... YEP the Honeymoon is over, for a couple of weeks there we thought my god perhaps they can play but no not a chance,

We have a plethera of out (close to) of contract players who pick up wages but are obviuosly already surplus to McIness' requirements and I cant see where the next bloody goal is coming from unless we bring in (god forbid) a player who can run, pass, shoot with two feet and tackle from the centre of the pitch a Central defender and a...Yes I will bloody say it a ******* Goalkeeper

Sorry for the rant but today Ive had enough...God I prey this guy from St Johnson is coming and he can play and we can find a CB that is any good as Fontaine is always injured and Nyatanga will never be much better than a reserve!!

THANK GOD FOR ALBERT ADOMAH
