Noel Hunt Anyone?

I hate that little shit...

WOW! Do you know him? If not hate is a pretty strong word for someone you've never even met.

Would love to have him, but surely Baldock and Hunt are to very similar players? If this happens Pittman is off surely? I would rather have La Fonde if I'm honest but Hunt will do nicely.

Also, if the EP article is to be believed (which is unlikely) then we're after 2 strikers. Does this mean we're now not in the market for a CM player? Or even a CB? God I'll be glad when all of these signs are completed.

Roll on the Bournemouth game where I'm sure we'll have most of our signings completed and on show.

The EP article also goes onto say Noel Hunt will struggle to get in the Reading first team next season. As Simon Church and the Russian that was at Fulham will be ahead of him in the pecking order. Well Simon Church was mostly sub for Reading last year and scored only 7 goals.

OMG fantastic. I think Hunt is a quality Championship player. If we sign all those that we are chasing, and by no means am I expecting us too, next season is going to be a good one.

Lets hope we see some action with the pen and paper soon.

Normally when they link us with a name not mentioned on here before hand there sometimes is some truth in it.

Hardly.

Keogh was an exclusive, but the rest of this summer has been characterised by loads of speculative nonsense in The Post, anyone remember the Hearts goalie who was coming (McDonald?), Ross McCormack, Suso?

Although we clearly need another forward to compete with Stead, Pitman and Taylor I just can't see two more strikers coming in.

The article is, as usual, poorly researched (as mentioned above Church couldn't get a regular start last season at Reading so he won't be a first choice in the Prem) plus it contains Stockhausen's usual snidey comments about us (Stead not a "prolific scorer" "Pitman's form saw him on the bench last season"), anyone seriously think they say the same when Rovers sign someone?

As usual this is poorly written, poorly researched speculation.

I'm just glad to hear it's looking likely Baldock will join.

Not sure about Hunt, his goalscoring record is good. He would command a fee though. Reading signed him for £600k so I'd have thought they'd be looking to recoup most of that. Can't help but wonder why we didn't splash this cash on a priority signing ie centre half.

Is that the same Stockhausen who was done for drunk driving and tried to blame the landlord?

Would be a great signing but concerned about the lack of noise around a centre back still. Bit worried attention is being put elsewhere.

Do not fret!! Remember we heard absolutely nothing about the Anderson deal and then bang!! He joins. I'm sure Del boy is working his magic. Back on topic though.. Noel Hunt would be a great signing for us.

Yeah and my point was all those were posted here first. Cunningham was first brought to us by them and not this forum and oh look, it happened.

Don't get me wrong, i don't rate the Post. However when they do get something not started on here it does often have legs.

This anti EP stuff is getting out of hand - knee jerk stuff repeated ad nauseam. I for one don't believe they have any serious bias. The Stead & Pitman comments for example are perfectly accurate. And why should a local paper set out to alienate more than half its potential customers, for heaven's sake?

As for the widely repeated accusation that the "get all their stories from OTIB", I can't take that seriously. OTIB members get most of their rumours from trawling the internet - as obviously journalists do too. There is little original stuff on OTIB. The EP Baldock & Hunt stories, on the other hand, do seem to be original, so perhaps they have a source. Accuracy remains to be proven - but it won't be disproved if the deals don't happen.

Ah, Mr Stockhausen. We've been expecting you...

Anyone else not that fussed about Hunt? Lots of injury problems in recent times, 28 so unlikely to get better or more valuable and a 1 in 4 strike rate isn't exactly 'prolific'. Would much prefer Baldock, who admittedly has a worse strike rate at this level, but is younger and toy mind more exciting

The Post and all other papers have one aim – to sell as many copies as possible. The Post has to fill the sports section of the paper every issue but unfortunately during the football close season there’s not much happening. Hence 95% of the stories are just a re-hash of what we already know or wild speculation. When they get something right it’s a great story and people tend to forget the other 95% that’s rubbish.

Dont rate him and wouldnt want him here.

As someone else said a 1 in 4 strike rate at this level and has had his injuries. At 28/29 no re sell value and would cost at least 500k.

He is a typical Del player though - good pro, works hard etc. Like his brother he got a nasty streak in him. I would rather have the class and guile of Jon Stead next too Pitman or dare i say it, Baldock.

BBC sport tweeted that when Del was asked about Hunt he said they had to get one right eventually. Deal seems very much on

Disagree. The exact quote from that tweet is "eventually they'll get something right", which to me implies that they haven't got this right.

Do not want this signing, I do feel we are close to Baldock as they denied the Davies rumours but not the Bladock ones. Also I would be happier with Baldock, Stead, Taylor, Pitman with no Noel Nunt, we dont want too many strikers all of those are capable, theres no point keeping capable players on the bench where they might sulk!

me too - but when Del is quiet he seems to pull someone out of the bag so Im hoping its the same here.

CB is the MAIN priority for me.

No connection obviously. I just disapprove of trite playground name calling.

Sometimes EP seem to get it right, but on OTIB generally there is a bit of a hate culture, so once a enemy has been identified, the bandwagon rolls on regardless. It's just a little childish.

In defence of the 'haters', back in the days of the 606 forum, The Post's football writer Andy Stockhausen used to post in the City boards and was one of the most obnoxious trolls of all time. He never attempted to hide his disdain for Bristol City FC and so when negative or untrue stories are printed WRITTEN BY HIM, you can't blame people for taking them with a healthy dose of cynicism

What was his user name on 606 cd?
