samo II
I can't stand John Terry, but would take him down the Gate. Personalities should not come into it... Couldn't agree less. If some Johnny Big Balls turns up, especially the likes of Lawrence who might be decent but isn't that decent, and upsets the team you can totally screw up a decent side. Personalities absolutely come into it, at every level from board room down.

If his personality affected his or the teams performance then I agree 100%, but if he (whoever he is) done it for the club, and improved the team, then so be it! Spud55
Wouldn't want Ronaldo then? Unlike Liam Laurence Ronald's is hyper confident but not arrogant at all, he's is a very humble chap by all accounts and on the pitch backs up his confidence by being arguably the best player on the planet and one of the best who's ever played the game. Liam Laurence is a arrogant **** who isn't 1/10th as good as he thinks he is.

Baffles me how people dish out stick but are unaware of what goes on behind closed doors.
GrahamC
If you google Liam Lawrence's time at Sunderland you'll be more than aware what went on "behind closed doors"..
Taylor10
Personalities only come into it IF they are good enough! He is a complete and utter has been and would try bleed the club dry. Exactly the sort of signing Del looks to be trying to avoid, and the club as a whole should be as well. Perfectly content with Anderson and Yannick thanks even if Albert does go, which I sincerely hope he doesn't!

And google doesn't tell you half of it. A friend has met many of the Black Cat's players, and has pretty good things to say about 99.9% of them. Lawrence? Not so much... samo II
Fair enough I stand corrected. Apparently Marcus Stewart was a gent to him though; would always stand a drink you a if you said hello. And he was very fond of Stead as a bloke, despite never having really got going for Sunderland. Gave me a quick text (first one in about 6 months at the time!) when Stead signed on saying we'd signed a really nice guy, even if he didn't do well for us! Guest Bengibbs68
Personality is extremely important unless a player is so good that it's worth mollycoddling the knobheadishness... such as if Ronaldo got lost and ended up over here (although some1 at man Utd once said he was the best professional they'd ever seen)... Liam Lawrence is not that player
