cummins17
So I read over the weekend that Delboy wanted 2 more in before the Gillingham game. Anybody believe this is going to happen or not? As it seems a bit dead on the forum regarding rumours but we all know del keeps his cards close to his chest.
Taunton_City
No chance, all our signings will happen deadline day now by which time we will be rooted to the foot of the championship table......
MC RISK77
No chance, all our signings will happen deadline day now by which time we will be rooted to the foot of the championship table...... dont see it as severe as we will be rooted to the foot of the championship, but i do agree that i think the business will be done on deadline day with a slight amount of panic, despite Monkeh reassuring me that there will be no panic buys..... Just cant see us getting the players that have been mentioned, and currently i see nothing to suggest that this season will be any different to the last, albeit we have a better manager than we did at the start of last season

marcofisher
Rooney, Van De Vaart, Robinho amongst many others were deadline day transfers, dont think they were signed "in panic"

westred1
Kind of, and i suspect they paid ay over the odds because it was a deadline day signing. VDV was only £8 million I'd say that Spurs got him on the cheap!

I actually don't think there will be panic buys. I think McInnes is a planner. It might be the targets he wants fall through and he has to look at other options but I suspect he'll know the other options well in advance and, even if it does take 'til deadline day to see who we get in, he won't be scrambling about desperately trying to find players to sign - just weighing up whether it's worth going for the back-up options or pay over the odds for what he wants if need be. It wouldn't be ideal if that happens but I don't think it'll actually be panic per se. Personally I think the signings will come before then. I'd be surprised - but not shocked - if anyone arrived before Gillingham and maybe not even before the weekend but I think thing'll happen in the next fortnight. MATT BCFC
Our squad looks better than it did last season, we also have a better manager and had a good pre season behind us. Even if we werent to bring anyone else in I think we will be ok. However to me with a good solid centre half to partner Fontaine and a decent pacy striker I'd be quietly confident we could have a top half finnish and maybe even sneak a playoff place. Monkeh
, I'm kidding just getting annoyed with the lack of activity... we've signed 4 players and have one on trial how is that lack of activity, or should we announce to the world how much money we are willing to spend and who we are intrestied thus getting other clubs involved and end up paying over the odds for a avarage player, Just get behind the team and leave the manager to do HIS job
marcofisher
That may be the case, but they would have got him cheaper if it wasn't a deadline day signing Not at all, many clubs would let a player go cheap on deadline day because they need to get rid of them for contract reasons etc, if gives them less chance to negotiate. Indeed - the reason why so much transfer activity happens at the last minute is because it's in the buying clubs interest to play brinksmanship to the last minute so both the club and player known they're stuck with each other for another four months if they don't give way. Sure, some clubs don't think through their transfer activity and have to rush through signings but most deadline day transfers will have been negotiated for weeks beforehand but clubs are trying to improve their bargaining position by holding off. westred1
That may be the case, but they would have got him cheaper if it wasn't a deadline day signing Can't be so sure; his move to Bayern Munich the day before for a supposed £18million stalled and this made him cheaper as Madrid wanted him off their books. Back to City, I believe the Baldock transfer will be the only one to go through before deadline closes and maybe Mark Wilson. Other than that, I think loans will be needed. MATT BCFC
Would imagine most players will want to leave any potential transfer as late as possible in order to get the best possible deal.
marcofisher
Also why rush into buying a player when a better one might pop up 2 weeks later, where theres a lot of options its probs better to wait and see which one is most viable!

Monkeh
Not a chance. Very disappointing. not really its only gillingham, in before the forest game is more important and realistic target, we'll wait and see
Busterrimes
That may be the case, but they would have got him cheaper if it wasn't a deadline day signing The VDV deal was a case of Real Madrid flogging him cheap as they had too many foreigners and wanted to make a last minute big signing. Normally he would cost more.

TRL
you said there were no new signings I pointed out 4 Pedantic, you actually pointed out 4 old signings. There are no new signings. So technically taunton is quite right. See you made me get all pedantic as well. I don't know why there is any issue taken with Taunton, it is obvious what he meant.
