Guest Red85
I think that after tonights game it is clear we do not at the moment in my opinion have a squad strong enough to survive another season in the Championship. Clearly need to snap up a Strong commanding CB, and a couple of ST, looked as though there was little confidence in the team tonight and some players looked tired already. Would love to think that they were just saving themselves for the season opener...but they have let down the fans that did make the effort tonight. Pitman and Stead looked like they'd never met each other before, Can't understand how Woolford makes a living as a footballer...the only positive for me was Skuse, seemed like he was the only player interested at times. Some players seem to be ok with earning a large amount of money to do little. Some looking in the mirror is defo needed by some of our squad. Hopefully here's to a few decent signing this week and a decent season ahead for us!
Guest Taunton_Red
Can't see any players wanting to play for a side where the manager doesn't know where his players play? Skuse at RB Woolford at LB Adomah in behind didn't work. Pitman on the left wing. I know we were up against it but at least play your players in positions that they are comfortable in. It seemed to me as if Foster and Woolford were being told to play as wing-backs in the second half, leaving room over on the left when woolford was defending, so pitman naturally gravitated towards the space, I don't think he was specifically told to play LM. And Skuse was only RB because of the absence of Cunningham, I fully expect Foster to be there again come Saturday. Personally I would've kept Foster RB and played Bryan.. CiderCraig
One game, one defeat - all the miserable, moany fcukers come out of the woodwork. Would you be calling us world beaters if we'd beaten the mighty Gillingham tonight?, no- I don't think so. Poor result, hey we're used to it!. New season, new players, same lethargy and negativity from our 'cheerful' supporters. Get a grip

Dolman Block B
Can anyone have any type of belief that we can get something at Forest staurday after that awful performance last night ? As i posted after the Bournemouth game, Pitman is just lazy, a poacher maybe but no help to any of his team mates. Stead is sound as long as he has a decent pacy striker along side him, "he aint though" Taylor cannot step up to championship level for a full 90 minutes. So desperate need of a quick and intelligent striker needed "now" Centre back we have to go with 2 from Fontaine, Wlison or Carey. Tango is dreadful, cant imagine what the likes of Cox and Blackstock will cause saturday. Bring a well respected and powerful man in "now" All in all these positions have been discussed over the past couple of months yet nothing has happened to convice me that we will not be in a relegation battle once again. And the thought of a season like that again ?

My concern though is that players who were perhaps in the pipeline and have a couple of clubs to choose from may now kick city into touch based on yet another league two first round defeat! Squire Dastardly
Quote from Derek McInnes "We owe a lot of people more than this" Too damn right you (plural) do! What are you (singular) going to do about it?

And the thought of a season like that again ? Millen was getting stick this time last season for not signing enough quality and now McInnes is doing exactly the same. Maybe its not down to the managers but the board? Last nights defensive frailties were there for all to see. City just couldn't cope with long throws and corners and need for a dominant centre half is now a desperate need. My pre-season optimism has faded already. I agree to a certain extent....serious questions need to be asked as to why we have not recruited a new central defender. On the plus side, as a whole McInnes signings, on a whole...are nromally effective and improve our team, where as Millens wernt. Like you though, the optimism has faded massively
Tins
It's all good blaming Del, but when was the last time a manager had the opportunity to bring in a top player? Johnson? Coppell only could sign unwanted players such as Cisse, Stewart and Hunt, but he couldn't sign other targets like Kitson and Ingimarsson. Millen wanted Billy Jones, Andrew Taylor, Bradley Johnson, Gareth McAuley etc and couldn't get them. Maybe the problem is with our wage structure and negotiations skills, not the manager? Betelgeuse
One problem in bringing in players is we're just not an attractive club to play for. In championship terms, we're down there with the worst of them and add to that location, the west is a nice place to live but in sporting terms, well we all know how bad that is here. I think we're one of about 5 or 6 clubs who will struggle this season and we need some important signings in the next few weeks otherwise we're in for another relegation battle . Good luck Del. Robbored
Maybe the problem is with our wage structure and negotiations skills, not the manager? Thats the point I'm making. Both Millen and McInnes have failed to get the players they wanted .Is that down to them or down to John Lansdown? He is after all the clubs negotiator and we know of several players who have been lost to other clubs because they got better deals. Whilst fiscal restraints are essential a balance has to achieved where the club progress is maintained. We saw last night just how weak City were defensively and thats something we've all been seeing for pretty much two entire seasons and yet we still haven't seen that crucial right sided centre half join the club. Why is that? Whats happened with that pacey striker? Baldock was in the frame but no news on him. Has he got a better deal at Brighton or somewhere else? I'm certain that McInnes and Millen before him have highlighted the crucial players they wanted but as they don't seem to appear. Is Jon Lansdown driving too hard a deal and losing players because of it? Frenchay Red
Slightly off topic, but nevertheless relevant to me, does anyone know what time the turnstiles close during a game? At the moment I have other things I'd prefer do early on a Tuesday evening, rather than watch that shower of **** I wasted my time on last night. So if I role up around half-time next Tuesday with my ST will I still be able to get in?

The only stand they check is the east end for tickets at HT, no idea why. All the others you can walk straight in, so if you were local and didnt mind only watching the second half of games, you could get in free every week. Guest Rich i e
Whether we have new players or not, the least you expect from any player is they try harder than the opposition. we were outfought and that ain't good enough.

Tad controversial, but I think you could well be near the money. Which is why I was surprised when Del said he was looking for Prem/Champ quality players...! He also wanted to get them early and there seems no doubt that Keogh and Gerrard were names that he would have welcomed. They eventually went elsewhere for reasons that can only be finance.. The Baldock deal was attractive as it could well be done with the Maynard cash. Buzsaky is way off our radar, although I do think Del is still keen. But I do have to agree that we have to be strict within a budget as we want a team to support at the end of the day.. Last night was a shock result, but good it happened now rather than Saturday. Derby and Cardiff were even more of shock. They've spent big.. Brighton were poor last night.. So while I do believe that it will be a difficult season and we are missing out on some key targets, it's far too early for doom and gloom. The loan market will be an opportunity to add maybe some younger, hungry players. Roll on Saturday.

David Brent
I predict Charlton, Derby, Cardiff, Brighton, Huddersfield and City will all get relegated (Well, 3 of them) - None of them are clearly good enough to survive in the championship after going out in the first round of the league cup. We were just outfought by Gillingham, a typical L2 team. I thought we made a mistake playing 4-4-2 as Pitman was ineffective (or lazy and constantly offside), thought we should've gone 4-5-1 with Adomah and Bolasie on the wings. Plus, we had nothing to lose by playing young Joe Bryan. Also, Nyatanga and Fontaine didn't make sense to me - 2 left footed CBs - especially as Wilson was available - anyone know the last time we won when these 2 played together?
