Snufflelufagus
Once again our corners looked terrible last night. We really never look like scoring them. We should have had weeks to practice them in the summer. In fact I can't remember the last time we looked slightly dangerous from them. Maybe when Mccombe was here. And yet when the other team get a corner we bring everyone back and still concede.
mightyreds89
My question is why does Pitman take them!
Southport Red
I have been supporting City for just about 50 years, always cheer in expectation when we get one, but in truth, cannot remember us ever being threatening with them. Conversely, like you say Snuffleagus, when have conceded them during this time, I watch through my fingers and hold my breath.
eskay
My question is why does Pitman take them! I agree, surely the striker should be in the box for a corner??? Hartley was the last person we had who could take a decent corner.
eastonboy
I didn't go last night, but certainly last season, Marvin was getting his head to a ridiculous amount of corners, in damned good and often, open positions - it is just a shame that he can't head (directionally) for toffee. As for Pitman taking the corners, yes it is strange, because in open play, he is actually a very good headerer of the ball. Last decent corner taker - well, McAllister did score direct from a corner a couple of seasons back....
Snufflelufagus
I'd actually say Pitmans corners are ok. The problem is we have noone that attacks and heads the ball, excactly the same problem we have defending them.
Admin phantom Posted August 15, 2012 Admin Share Posted August 15, 2012 Rooney takes them for Utd, Messi takes them for Barca... I would assume it is the player best at pinging a ball with accuracy ?
The Enormous Turnip
Yannick took the corners after he came on last night, there was one time he had 4 (!) efforts in a row which didnt beat the first man before Gillingham cleared it properly. I literally dont know why I get so excited when we get corners, even if we get it in the right area only Marv seems to be able to get on the end of them and his heading is hilariously erratic. Did anyone else notice Pitman took a dangerous corner which they were forced to head it behind for another corner then we take a short corner? Swing it back in the middle ffs it was the only time their back line looked under any real pressure. Bad decision making
