ChrisBCFC
After the disappointment of yesterday, I was chatting in the bookies and when chatting it became clear how important our first 5 games are....after the real horror of last seasons start, where we were locked at the bottom from the very start of the season, we all know how VITAL. It is that we get off to a satisfactory start......from a points, confidence and momentum perspective. It looks like we will be in and about somewhere around the bottom half of the table, so we really do need to get some space between us and the bottom or we could really put ourselves under HUGE pressure....and looking at the fixtures we have a chance? Forest (a) Palace (h) Cardiff (h) Barnsley (a) Blackburn (h) If we could get 7 points from the first 5 games minimum, surely that will be a START and gives us something to build on.....is it that unfeasable that we can get 3 wins??! One thing that is for sure, we need to start better and build some momentum so a repeat is not on the cards, I really fear that if we slip down the table early then we could find ourselves in real trouble. Thoughts?
Super
That Barnsley game is already looking massive!!
Whites
Can see us winning 4 out of 5 of those...... And that's only because no one really knows what to expect from Blackburn.
MichaelRobartes
I'd be delighted with any more than seven or eight points. We have started slowly for the last few years so it'd be nice to get a few points in the bank and hopefully get that first win early. Looking forward to it, even after last night. _Bristol-City_
Not 'VITAL' at all; Reading were 20th at the end of August last season. They won the league. Important, not vital.

Disagree, Reading had a squad full of quality plus financial backing to come out of any mess they potentially got into . We have neither.

ChrisBCFC
Fair point. However they were still 20th at the end of August and with the same squad pulled together to do well up to January. The end of August is just 3 games, and if u look st those games they were in positions to win and were very unlucky to be where they were. Then they did excellent business in Roberts and LeFondre which really bolstered there side. You cant compare us to them, we had a horrendous start and stayed there until the 37th game of the season. A few wins and a few draws would really boost confidence......can't have another start where we lost to Ipswich 3-0 and Cardiff 3-1 like last season. _Bristol-City_
Were you there last night? Has it crossed anyone elses mind they didn't really give a shit? Or just mine? Fonts came out last season before Swindon and said it was a must win, didn't put much effort in; didn't yesterday either
Guest JordanBs3Bcfc
I like to think we can get 8 points out of those. We should be playing one up top againt florist but im gunna be interested to see what sort of aproach we will take against palace or any other home game for that matter. If we can establish a bit of home form early on in the seasson, we should be fine. Lets just see if we can manage to squeeze 1 or 2 more signings in before! I believe they care in league games, hense why I've already sorted out first 5 away games of the season; however the cup? No.
Guest
We have a couple more days to wake the hell up and hopefully sign the decent CB and goalscorer. All our games are massive and we should be giving a 100% in them all. First 5 games could bring 1 to 15 pts, I`ll go with 5pts if there is no movement in the transfer market. The season is upon us...we arent ready.

No. No accusation there, chap. I can only speak for myself so. However, I do think that whatever competition we're playing in or whatever team we're playing against should make no difference. I'd prefer to think we are rubbish rather than disinterested. I should clarify that I'm not saying that we are rubbish one game into a season, it is all hypothetical. Fonts came out last season before Swindon and said it was a must win, didn't put much effort in; didn't yesterday either Yea I was there, what has that got to do with anything? Of Course they give a shit, they wouldn't be professional sportsman if they didn't have the winning mentality And it's not as if we were the only Championship losers, it's very common for this cup for bigger teams to lose to well disciplined, hard working defensive sides......look at Us, Blackpool, CArdiff, derby, Millwall, huddersfield and Charlton.....all lost. No coincidence. Or do none the players in these sides give a shit either? What nonsense.
