Also when you look at our MD's experience, its no wonder things aren't running smoothly.

I know a girl who works on the Investment Helpdesk at HL, and has done for a few years now. Could she run a football club? No.

Am I still the only one completely baffled as to why this guy is in charge?

Jon Lansdown's Overview Current
  • Managing Director at Bristol City Football Club
Past
  • Executive Director at Bristol City Football Club
  • New Stadium Team at Bristol City Football Club
  • Investment Helpdesk and VCT Research at Hargreaves Lansdown

The OP is right

Things have definately gone down hill since his days

The biggest shame with the latest and probably not last fiasco this season is silence coming from the club.

Surely between Adam B, Dave L and Kevin Smith someone could and really SHOULD have put some kind of statement / apology out by now???

Exactly my thoughts, the club haven't apologised for anything for at least two days and its a disgrace, we never get tired of an apology on this forum or demanding one. We may not be original but at least we are consistent. Now get it sorted and appogise for something/anything immediately.

You clearly miss the point!

With the age of techology etc, it is now 150 minutes into the latest disaster, all it needs is someone to come out and explain what is going on, the silence is worse than a crap excuse

Latest disaster, really ! Is this honestly in anyone's opinion a disaster ? There are a few problems for people getting tickets, these people have a week to get this sorted, what's the rush ?

Yes he did a great job recruiting McInnes as well.Yes he is sorely missed.

Colin Sexton is an administrator. That's what he does, and that's why he's good at it and is missed.

To solely blame him for the the recruitment of Derek Mcinnes is disingenuous, yes he was part of the team who recruited him, but it wasn't all his decision, I accept the board were split and it's fair to say that we'll probably never know the ins and outs of what actually went on but the thing with Colin Sexton was that he ran the club with considerable help from the likes of Jayne Maggs who collectively had years of experience. The current team have very little, it seems, and so are learning as they go, hardly the way to run a multi million pound business you could (rightly) argue.

Losing that much experience and expertise is bound to hurt any business and I wouldn't be surprised that with hindsight, the board might feel they made a bit of a cock up there.

Our loss is Plymouth's gain and you can be pretty safe in the knowledge that their club will be professionally run whilst he's there.

To be fair, the club are trying to modernise and relying so heavily on one little old lady is a bit tinpot / non league isnt it?

You mean Jayne Maggs head hunted to help with the Euros ticketing and getting highly commended by not only this club but the football authoriies that hired her for the Euros.

A bit different than a little old lady sat in a office, apart from the fact she isn't a little old lady. She is the kind of person with the know how and the expreience they should have been tapping into, not lowering her salary, making her staff redundant. But those in power who have no real clue (as they are laying bare for all to see) Decided, the most experiewnced hand at match day ticketing should effectively be forced out of the club.

End result, disaster. Sums them up really.

And this is modernisation? Disasters week in, week out? Seems like a non league operation already...

The ticketing situation before was excellent in my opinion even if basically someone on the end of the phone taking your details, efficient and you got your tickets without any of this hassle.

I think that a savvy employer would have had Jayne Maggs on the project group for sourcing a new ticketing system. She would have known the possible snags, and asked the right questions.

Exactly

You disagree?, at best another PR own goal, in relation to tickets this season.

I know of people (and have read about others) who turned away from the Bradford game due to long queues long after kick off, no doubt others have been put off with later problems, are we as a club really that well off that poor organisation can be accepted for letting down its customers?

Read TRL's post (number 21), to give you a clue what we should be expecting.

You are assuming that the people that can't buy tickets are ST holders. Where as I would expect the majority of those attempting to be non ST holders.

Hardly "a few" people struggling to get tickets, the 'previously tested in error' system clearly was not up to scratch - even this OTIB forum can handle a few thousand people on at the same time, the system crashed at the ground to, and the phone lines were obviously inundated with people having problems too.

Like I posted elsewhere, there was no reason to change the system that was previously working well. The club had been inovative in getting the print your tickets at home installed, the phone lines gave you a clue where you were in the queue, and your ticket / ST scanned at the ground.

The sad thing is the ticket staff have been hung out to dry and no doubt taking flak that should not be directed at them
