At least he knows of what he talks. It's the new addiction, particularly with betting on mobiles.

Aint that the truth. Its far too easy these days. Someone who i used to work with was bored at work (arnt we all) and decided to pass the time by losing 500 quid on rulette on his i phone.

Ok hes responsible for his actions etc etc but 5 yrs ago he wouldnt have had the chance and would have had to put up being bored

£4M !!!

Even he's rolling in it, Football jeeez!

You don't need a bankroll anywhere close to £4m to place that much in bets, especially if you keep it relatively small. The house edge will just chip away at you. Obviously the bigger the bets the quicker you come to ruin. And internet gambling is the worst of all - do a 30 line fruity at 20p a line 5 credits so £30 a spin, turn off all animation (so you miss out the 20 seconds the reels would be spinning for), load it up, stick it on autoplay, you'll be losing a lot of money you might not have to spare very quickly.

The rise of Internet / mobile based gambling sites is frightening. They aim them at all markets, Bingo and 'female oriented' sites also abound now as well as the traditional sports and casino based sites.

Most people know their limits but I know people who have become seriously addicted and lost thousands. A real worry for the future - so many sites with so much promotion / advertising and so many people signing up with very little intervention to protect the vulnerable.
