Guest cider city red 81
Afternoon For those not going to Ashton Gate, to confirm the London Supporters Football Club will be at Sports Bar No 1, City Road, EC1Y 1AE. The owner is a City fan. Look out for us. And if youre any good at football ask for Cookie! Cheers

Port Said Red
Thanks for the update, this is a very good second option to someone like me working away from home next week. Certainly better than sitting in a hotel room or a bar full of passionless Prem fans.

Olé
I work right over the road from the Sports Bar, and on a small point of order, Duncan, the guy who runs the place, isn't a City fan (which was mentioned on here in previous seasons). He's a Gloucester Rugby fan, Liverpool is his football team. The day to day manager, Malcolm (top bloke) is a Spurs fan. I'm watching in The Angel, an Irish pub about 300 yards up the road from the Sports Bar. I know the landlord and staff in there really well, it's a proper street corner London boozer but with 5 decent sized big screens showing Sky and they keep an eye on the City scores because I'm a regular in there. As much as I like the guys who run the Sports Bar, it's a bit soulless and always feels a bit like a youth club full of bankers, with its' weird combination of bright lights and wipe-down pine everywhere, and suits standing about in it. As it goes, it's more like the Dolman Exhibition Hall than a traditional pub!!

I would have liked to have met you we have shared a lot of similar opinions over the years (when I was hornbeamred), but I think if there are 20 - 30 city fans in there it will be far from "soulless"
Olé
^^ If you work locally, what time are you getting in for the game? Can pop in beforehand and buy you a beer. Malcolm (runs the Sports Bar day to day and often comes up to The Angel after closing) regularly winds me up that I don't give him a fair share of my custom - buying a round might solve that. kmpowell
Sounds like there's going to be a good crowd there tonight - hopefully the landlord will give us the decent screens to watch it on. Last time I was there he bunged us up by the pool table on the grainy projector and put rugby on all the others! I work by Bank, so I'll be strolling up after work. See you guys then. Olé
Malcolm is back on in the Sports Bar and hasn't been told that anyone was coming in - he's just rearranging his teams breaks and only just thinking about getting the big screen down! Old street or Moorgate, probably works out about the same to get there from each one so it depends which way you're heading.

Port Said Red
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the London Reds for creating a fantastic atmosphere in 1 City Road last night. It was a huge consolation to watch the game with them as I was unable to get to AG because of work. It was a pleasure to meet you all, but especially Ole and Mendip City who were kind enough to put up with this old guys reminiscing!! Thanks too to Ole for the round of shots he produced after the game for all that were there, a very generous man!!

Thanks too to Ole for the round of shots he produced after the game for all that were there, a very generous man!! I'll second that PSR. Up until the match got moved to Wednesday, as a Kingswood based Red, I was nailed-on to be at the game, but I'd had a visit to London arranged months ago for the Wednesday. So when the lifeline of the London Reds pub meet appeared I thought "I'll have some of that"! What a fantastic night I had with a great bunch of people. I can honestly say, hand on heart that it was almost like being at the Gate last night and the passion they had for City was amazing. God knows what the locals were thinking, with the full range of City songs being bellowed out throughout the game. Shame I had to miss Ole's generous shots, but following the final whistle, I had a crazy dash for my 10.15 train from Paddington and only made it by the skin of my teeth with a couple of minutes to spare. So a massive thanks to all the fellow reds who were there in the Sports Bar last night for making it a night to remember. I can honestly say that will live forever in my memory and whenever others are saying they remember being at AG for the Derby in 2013, I'll have just as fond memories of the Sports Bar at 1 City Road! All the best guys and hope to have the opportunity to visit again sometime YOU REDS!!!

Olé
Nice one - it was a good craic. I caught up with the Bar Manager (Malcolm) after closing time up the road at The Angel for a swift one that same night and he said it hasn't often been that loud (in his words us and Huddersfield - and up until Wednesday he's only ever gone on about the bloody Huddersfield fans he once had in!) He said his two barmaids really wanted to know the origin of our songs "especially the one that goes 'f--- off b------s you're a c--t you're a c--t'" (his words) He also mentioned seeing two stragglers visiting FYEO downstairs after he shut up...... go on then own up......
