Aizoon
Can't make up my mind about them. OTOH dirty barstewards who crocked several of our players OTOH they fought like tigers and were unlucky to go down.
miketh2nd
A great read once again , a good insight of how Peterborough are doing . I know people got miffed when sod said we should pass like the dons. So I might be unpopular when I say I think we need to scout like Peterborough but they really have a eye for finding gems and giving players a 2nd Chance. The game itself will be a tough test. I think it could be a goal fest so I'm hoping we can draw , I reckon will be 2-2 .
22A
Their defender Mark Little on BBC Radio Cambs this morning; "I expect Bristol City to be up there going for promotion at the end of the season. They've got to start winning games soon, so this is the best time to play them while they're still having their bad spell. We will go there on Saturday looking for all three points". downendcity
A great read once again , a good insight of how Peterborough are doing . I know people got miffed when sod said we should pass like the dons.So I might be unpopular when I say I think we need to scout like Peterborough but they really have a eye for finding gems and giving players a 2nd Chance. The game itself will be a tough test. I think it could be a goal fest so I'm hoping we can draw , I reckon will be 2-2 . Agree with this Mike. Over recent seasons we have bought a succession of allegedly championship experienced players on high wages , in a vain attempt to retain our championship status. That strategy failed and we have lost millions as we have spent the last 12 months or so trying to get most of them off the payroll. By comparison, Posh have been a yo-yo club between the championship and league 1 and most of us would agree that they were very unlucky to go down last year when, after a disastrous start to the season, their squad showed more fight and commitment than our motley shower. What Posh have done for a few seasons now is show a great ability to take talent from lower and non-league clubs, turn them into good players and sell them on for big profit. Bringing them in from lower or no league means that they would not have had the same level of wages that our so called championship standard players would have been on, and the profits they have made from players like McLean, Boyd, Makail-Smith and more recently Gayle, means they have had money in the kitty to buy in million pound players while in league 1. Their strategy means that they are little affected by league 1 ffp restrictions and have been able to keep all but one of their championship squad, so have understandably hit the ground running this season , and have of course been able to reinforce it with a cheaper replacement (£1.2m!!) for Gayle. They are nothing like as big a club as we are, but by comparison we have had to dismantle our squad in order to meet the new financial restrictions and have assembled a group of replacements who are, by and large, young and inexperienced. Looking at these comparisons, Posh are therefore rightly regarded as favourites for promotion, while we should be more realistic about our chances for this season. However, Posh have shown what can be achieved buying the right players, even though they may be lower or non-league league so let's hope SOD's player strategy will show similar results for the future. Adomah has been our one real transfer success in recent seasons and he came from division 4, so I'm looking forward to SOD and his team unearthing more of this type of player, along with our home grown academy graduates. While we haven't seen the results in the league that we would want, I am encouraged by the signs on the pitch of what SOSD is looking to achieve, but we are behind a team like Posh because they started the season with pretty well the finished article while ours is a work in progress. Not losing on Saturday will be a very good result for us, as am certain the defence will be tested as much as by any team this season and Posh are the real bench mark for this division. Running Man
The have also worked the loan system well, something we have failed miserably in.
22A
Before leaving for the trip to Bristol, Darren Fergusson also told the local press, "Bristol City will start winning soon and they'll be right up there at the end of the season".
