Some Much Needed Good News

I'll be glad to have Taylor in and around the squad. The best man for job of holding the ball up. He won't score goals, but JET seems to do that just fine - we just need someone to play down the long balls.

Is he not better than Harewood?

Taylor is definitely a better target man and given that neither of them score goals, I would say Taylor is the better player.

Taylor is so much better than many on here seem to see. He won't score loads but is excellent at holding it up and making play. He's disliked for the reasons people didn't like Heskey. More to playing up top than goals (sounds daft I know). But he got over 60 England caps. 5th highest Prem appearances and has over 100 prem goals (who says he couldnt score). Taylor is our Heskey and has changed so many games off the bench, underrated doesn't come close.

When Taylor is back properly I can see us changing how we play and starting with 2 proper strikers. Wes Burns is on the bench as back up to Baldock with the hope that he can get some game time in games. He's not really a serious option for starting. One of Taylor and Harewood will start up top with Baldock, and JET will be incorporated in midfield. This should hopefully mean that the long balls we are being forced to play by the defensive tactics of our opponents have a far greater chance of sticking. The opposition will be less likely to close the midfield down, dropping off allowing us to play through the midfield more successfully.

The lack of a target man, coupled with Baldock's strengths and weaknesses has led to teams being happy to allow our back line to have the ball. They have closed our midfield down quickly, cutting off options for a pass out of defence, meaning we hit long balls to our short centre forward. It's noticeable that all of Baldock's goals have come away from home when teams have (I guess) pushed up and left spaces in behind for the kind of through balls Baldock likes. We also appear to be good on the break.
