havanatopia
If its good enough for Jimmy Greaves it is surely good enough for Barrs Court Road and the rest of us.. He looks like a typical 70's car salesman here. Or as he prefers to be photographed.. Getting ready for the 1970 London to Mexico World Rally where he came a very credible 6th with Tony Wall. Major Isewater
All Hail to the MK 2 Escort . Black vinyl roof ,yellow body work ,balanced like a tightrope walker . Someone even stole mine once and the Police found it in a car park with a note apologising for any inconvenience and a fiver for petrol in the glove box . We had quality car thieves in those days . Eddie Hitler
I went to help a friend recover an Astra (ok, not an Escort), and apart from the steering column damage the only thing the thief had done was throw away most of the empty fag packets that were littering the car! I had a Mark III and IV Escort so no RWD for me. Great looking cars all.
1960maaan
Had a1300 MK2 about '86 , really liked that car. My soon to be wife and then later ex wife (I prefer the latter ) asked one morning as she dropped me at work " how will I know if I run out of petrol" Then when free had an XR3i , went on a football club piss up and left it at the pub. Phone call early next morning saying it had be stolen , obviously a wind up I think and tell whoever it was to go away (I was very hungover). Thing is it was the Police and it had been nicked. Organised the insurance company to pick it up only to be told it had gone again ! There was just a scorch mark where it had been and I had to report it stolen again before I could claim . Went to have a look and no damage , no mess and they had dropped some money when they were looking around for something to take
