Mrdc Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Just read the preview and they reckon we will finish 7th....
Coppello Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I feel along way off that at present. Not just because of the transfer fiasco but also because it looks a very strong division this year. The amount of money being spent in the Championship this season is ridiculous as are some of the signings!
Robbored Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 It's just a massive amount of speculation from the football magazines and the media in general. None of us know who will finish where in the Championship. There are clubs with better squads on paper and other clubs with greater funds than others but who predicted last season that B'muff would reach the PL? If City did finish 7th then I'd be pissed off at missing the pray-off places.
RedBrizzleRobin Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I'm not 100% convinced that the division is stronger this year, as it seems thats pretty much said every year. Outside of the top 6, and I'd say bottom 4, the championship is very even and mostly made up of an average (for the championship) standard. Yeah, there's loads of money thrown about but some of its silly fee's and poor value. I'd put us about 12th in our current state (assuming we'll turn to the loan market if we stick with what we've got), but remember there's still a month left before the window closes - still loads of time to get bodies in, its just not ideal leaving it that late.

Bar BS3 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 It's already been posted on another thread and it's laughable.
ChippenhamRed Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 The magazine would have likely gone to print a few weeks ago, when they would have anticipated some good additions to our already-strong first 11. The prediction probably also factored some momentum from such a strong season last year and the general upward trend of the club on and off the pitch. Unfortunately it hasn't quite panned out as we all expected over recent weeks and the transfer situation feels (in my mind at least) like it might have taken the momentum with it too. Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't sense the same optimism on here that we all had back in May.
OldlandReddies Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I work with a Cardiff Season Ticket holder who said that last season they were worse than desperate but still managed to finish a respectable 11th. She also said that the quality of most of the other teams that finished around them was also very poor. That does give me hope that we will be able to compete especially given the way we blitzed League 1. Yes we will deffo need to add a few to our squad but our first 11 is more than capable of holding their own.
Guest I am the mole Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Didn't they predict we would finish 24th last time we were in the championship?
Jesus Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I think everyone has forgotten how good we were last year. We've got the same squad!!! We will add before the season. Nothing like a good old OTIB panic. Top 10 this season, with the right recruitment....... Playoffs

marcus Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Was speaking to swindle fans in the pub yesterday, they all said they think we will get play offs. Can't agree with them. Everyone seems more confident than us at the moment - seriously concerned about lack of signings.
redsquirrel Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 the same starting 11 might carry on the momentum better than say only half of last seasons squad starting. its how we are looking 60 minutes into the match id be concerned about but there's still time to fix that with gradual additions that can blend in to the squad and not take over as a separate unit of bodies
Negan Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I'd say apart from being relegated, 7th has to be the most disappointing place to finish. As it stands at the moment though I'd bite yer hand off for that high a finish. Think we're in for a tough old season and we'll flirt around the bottom half for most of the season, so my prediction would be 18th. Have a feeling MK Dons will have a good season though, think they could be in and around the play offs.
simon uk Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Agree with others, with the squad this thin we will be lucky to survive. What i would say is that if you look down rhe list of clubs a lot of them dont fill me with fear, your huddersfields, charltons, sheff weds, cardiffs, leeds, brentfords, blackburns etc.
Admin Phantom Posted August 3, 2015 Admin Posted August 3, 2015 We've got the same starting 11, not the same squad. There is a massive difference! Spot on, a MASSIVE difference! Trouble is season starts this Saturday, points are to be won now. My concern is points could be lost before loan players arrive that could prove pivotal later in the season

I think that's the thing really though. It becomes a tougher division because it's quite even. It makes it a lot more competitive if you have a league where anyone could beat anyone at anytime. I personally think Boro will walk it this year, but beyond that it's a tough one to call, for sure.
