Robin101 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 What is the most memorable moment you have listening to a Bristol City game on the radio? I remember listening to the first leg of the palace play off game. Being 13 at the time and typically taking the palace equaliser as the end of our premier league ambitions! Only to be running round the room at the noble winner! But an odd few stick out for me too! Big in the car on the way home from somewhere or other when Jamie McCombe scored up at Doncaster I think in the 2007 season. I think (?) it was a crucial moment and explaining to my mum why I celebrated it so! Another one was the penalty shoot out against Middlesbrough in the FA cup in, again 2007 I think. Must have been listening to the radio a lot back then!
Up The City! Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 The Mansfield game. I remember being around 12-13 and was slumped on my bed listening. I remember running around the house screaming and shouting come the final whistle. Also when Phillips saved that penalty against the sags.
One BCFC Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Steve Brooker vs Norwich, 2008. Last season vs Bradford will go down as unforgettable aswell.
cidered abroad Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Total agreement with BA14 RED. Bradford City away last season.
citywest30 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Liverpool replay for me.Remember thinking (and I was only 12/13) that it was sheer hell not really knowing what was happening. The last 5-10 mins were the worst and best of my City supporting experiences at that point.
The Gambler Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Ralph Milne scoring a late goal away at York in 1988. I was only 10 and remember the end to this season quite vividly. Colin Gordon scored with his hand against Doncaster to secure a play off spot in 5th place. City then relegated Sheffield U over 2 legs before losing to Walsall in a play off play off at fellows park - I was there, my dad had taken a drawer from a wardrobe so I could stand on it to see from the terrace. Disappointing game and I also got burnt on the hand from some guys cigar!
Dollymarie Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I was listening to City away, that fateful day that the lesser spotted blue lot were relegated. The callers after the game made it worth last years licence fee alone
Bristol Rob Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I was listening to City away, that fateful day that the lesser spotted blue lot were relegated. The callers after the game made it worth last years licence fee alone That was some truly epic broadcasting.
'Orns Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Mansfield away - I wouldn't move until the game was over, the ex wife wanted to go out, but I was sticking it out until the bitter end

Disappointing game and I also got burnt on the hand from some guys cigar! Am I right in thinking this was before the days of full commentary? I was going to mention a match away at York and guess it might have been this one? As I remember it we were losing at 90 minutes and RB put on a song, as they frustratingly did quite often during matches, we had given up all hope when all of a sudden the presenter interrupted the song for an update from Bootham Crescent which was Citys equaliser. I may have made all this up in my head though.
1960maaan Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Only one for me, Leeds away in the cup '74. Took my radio down to the local school yard and we played football to the back drop of the commentary. To know how big this win was here's the link to a report, interesting read. http://www.mightyleeds.co.uk/matches/19740219.htm The goal.
exAtyeoMax Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Liverpool v Bristol City, FA Cup 1994. Fell off the sofa when we scored. Punched the air on the Megabus returning from London (just past Swindon) promotion night 2015.
alandicks Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 1977 away to Coventry. 2-0 down and relegated only for Donnie Gillies and Gerry Gow to equalise. It was between City, Coventry and Sunderland who would go down. Jimmy Hill the Coventry chairman got Everton 3 Sunderland 0 flashed up on the scoreboard and bot Coventry and City realised they were safe so just passed the ball between themselves.
