Had some good sessions with old Ralf and Andy Lew' in Nailsea and Bristol when he was playing down the Gate , could you keep us informed on here if you hear more or get any updates , thanks in advance , and best wishes Ralf , thinking of you mate! COACH2
RIPFor the youngsters the York game was a must win it was the 87th minute and the score was 0 - 0 Ralph was running down the left hand wing and when he reached the edge of the penalty area without breaking stride he clipped the ball over the keeper into the right hand side of the goal. It was remarkable and one of the best I have seen. Thanks for the memory wee man.

B1ackbird
My best memories of Ralph was when he worked in the Queens Head, used to play pool with Elvis playing on the juke box, in the 90's we had him, Tins, Flat Cap and Walshie as regulars.i wouldn't pretend he didn't have big issues due to alcohol, but nor will I speak ill of the dead.I'm happy to be able to have called him my friend... Superjack
Sad news...... I can still see that mazy run against Palace in the Littlewoods Cup that persuaded Ferguson to part with £175k as if were happening in front of me now.My heroes all have one thing in common... their lifestyle. Alex Higgins, Peter Cook, a certain Darius Dzeikanowski... Ralph may not quite have matched their talent, but he lived the life he wanted. Thanks for the memories and being part of my favourite time as a City fan. God bless. Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan
I don't remember much of seeing Ralph Milne play as I was quite young at the time but I do remember seeing him score a brilliant goal on the HTV News football round up and my dad, his mates and my uncles talking about him in a very favourable way. As a result his name (amongst others) has always reminded me of a time when I first realised that City were 'my' team and always will be.A couple of years ago whilst browsing around the City shop my young daughter spotted one of those smallish teddies wearing the Hirerite Shirt from the late 80's which she wanted me to get for her. Obviously she had to give her teddy a name but couldn't think of one, so I suggested 'Ralph Milne' as he was the first name that came in to my head from that era...so 'Ralph Milne' it was and she's still got him.Its not much of a tribute to the bloke but it shows that he made an impression in his time at City.Rest in Peace Ralph. Linkedarm wall
I was at York. To be fair that day it was not Ralph's finest until.......that lob...where I have to say I went 'Louie Donowa' mad!Football is about memories and Ralph (unlike many who played for a lot longer) in his short City career certainly provided me with three very good ones, that goal, his debut and Palace. BS4 on Tour...
Too young, too soon Ralph, but what a talent you were.I'll never forget that sidefoot volley on the run at The East End.I remember what a vital part you were of that great Dundee Utd team of the late 1980s.I remember your goal against Lens in 1986 which turned a UEFA Cup tie and set Dundee Utd on their way to the UEFA Cup Final beating Barcelona and Borussia Monchengladbach on the road to the final. You were a great player Ralph. It's such a shame how you struggled to fight those demons.Rest easy Ralph. I so enjoyed watching you play.

Merrick's Marvels
Very sad news. Ralph scored some great, truly outstanding goals for City - Bury on debut, York, Oxford and Palace (2) will live forever in my memory. No other City player of that era - very few of any era - have scored goals that good. His performances for Dundee Utd are rightly legend. A huge talent but massively flawed at the same time; maverick and bonkers; he often left you wondering whether he was pished or a genius. Probably both. His troubles off the pitch cannot be lightly dismissed, but those goals will mean he'll be remembered for a very long time here in BS3. Rest in peace, fella.
