CheddarReds
Hi allI like I imagine others on here do coach football. I coach an u9 and u10 age group. I was wondering if anyone on here has any good coaching drills from this age group that I could use? Just looking for a few extra ideas! Also I m looking into sports coaching at uni. Has anyone on here been and done sports coaching? Or sports performance analysis for that matter? How has it been for you? Thanks all, looking forward to tomorrow in Birmingham! COYR! Cowshed
Masses of information on line appropriate for that age group look through str skill school, onlinesocceracademy, eyasu which you can use to increase kids core skills base - They can use clips at home to practice. Some excellent drills here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk78JhimWus

Lrrr
I did Sports Coaching as an undergraduate and just finishing it as a masters, want to go into performance analysis however its difficult to get considered without experience which is why I'm doing these courses http://www.prozonesports.com/product/upcoming-courses-2/ to try and give me an edge. I found the uni courses interesting and they did help me as a coach, however they cover a very broad spectrum from my experience where you often then specialise. Like on my course everything with anatomy, physiology etc there's less chance of me needing.
ciderbeans
Same for me hodge. I studied sports coaching science at UWE in Hartpury. It actually put me off coaching somewhat due to the course being largely theoretical rather than the practical aspect I was hoping it to be. Given I am a person who learns kinetically, it wasn't ideal. Coming out of uni, my confidence in actually performing what I had learnt wasn't there so I chose a different path. Couple that with the need to earn to live and here being little or no money in coaching in the early years it just hasn't happened for me.I do hope your experience is somewhat better Cheddarreds
Guest exiledindorset
hi buddy, im starting a course at bournemouth uni next week in "sports development and coaching sciences" my course will have a extra placement year, and past students have worked for various pro football clubs in various roles, thats why i picked it over a normal sports coaching course, so this experience issue, shouldnt be as much of a problem for me. my mate did normal sports coaching at southampton and said very similar things to whats above. Guest paulhr1976
If you have Twitter then the coaching family. Coaching badges and the coaching manual have some good information you can use

I now get the chance to go into primary schools and coach disabled students throughout the year.
