memories, nobles goal v palace

How hot was it that day? Must of been about 80 Degrees and about another 10+ inside the away end when Nobes banged that in.  Got some good play off semi final memories.. that one, Roberts v Hartlepool.. and Barnard away at Brentord... the bloody lower tier went mental, proper old style terrace crush/surge forward.  Shame we're crap in the finals, mind.

Took my 13 y.o. niece (her 1st away game), her friend and friend's brother to this one.  Thought I had lost them for good after Noble scored.  Found them several rows away from where I had left them.  Cracking day out.  Still baffles me that the friend's mum didn't seem to have any issue in handing her kids over to a total stranger at Temple Meads car-park early that morning.

Still get goose bumps watching that one. Amazing strike and probably one of the most memorable goals in recent times.

Carey getting on the end of "The Weasel"  was also a great goal. Come to think of it, Trundles winner was a nice one to and McIndoe hit a screamer. Spoilt for quality goals in those 2 games.

I was in a bar in a remote outpost in Spain watching it.

When this hit the net I went wild and one of the very few other people in the bar did the same.

Turned out to be a guy from Bedminster! We get everywhere....

Recall similar.  Was watching some game the in the Irish pub here (at a push maybe the Watford game the same season, a late KO anyway): at the same time there was a mob watching an Arsenal match, and others watching (I think) SA v Barbarians, and in my corner, on the 3rd screen were two of us watching the City game, in an otherwise deserted section of the bar.  Not a large population here, but I didn't know the guy. City scored and 100% of the viewers cheered.  Turned out he was a Bristol copper doing a stint over here.

Remember too well - There were a load of us crammed into a pub up here in Berkeley AND when that goal went in it was sheer chaos, one of my mates (part of the sub crew I add) accidentally hit the low ceiling with his fist (in celebration) and ended up in Gloucester Royal  - Just superb

Wasn't the local hospital open, or is that shut now?

Bizarrely, just read that Cheltenham scored with 'the weasel' in the week. Apparently GJ is going to drop the player who gave the name to the media after the game (in jest, I presume) - but wasn't in the man himself who proudly gave out the name after the Palace game?

Still my favourite ever city goal. What a day that was

the journey home on the coach was horrendous, we seemed to be stoic in traffic for hours with no air con and it was roasting, didn't care though!

I remember that! Especially being a fat bastard wearing a nylon football shirt!

Berkeley Hospital is now sadly closed (like a few things in our little town), however it was still open THEN but they couldn't deal with a pissed City fan with a broken wrist on that day so Glos it was (by a family car I add)

Didn't realise that had closed, was handy to pop down there when needed

Bought my first house in Berkeley, loved it down there - always compared it to a small Irish town, everyone on the lash!
