We'll beat Ipswich this saturday.

Saturday was dreadful, we all know it, we've all said it.  Time to put that one to bed and never mention it again; so looking ahead to Saturday, I can see our 2nd win of the season.

I expect a carbon-copy of the game against Boro - a cheeky 1 - 0 City win against an Ipswich side who will be a little too confident that they can exploit our 'weaknesses'.

We'll surprise them, and put in a stubborn display at the back, much to the displeasure of Pitman, but probably to the secret delight of Skuse - who must still have a soft spot for his old club and long for a day when he might pull on the red shirt of BCFC once more.

So, let's be positive for a change, and look forward to another away win.

Kodjia will score his fifth of the season.

On another note, how many going to the game?

It's a pretty long shot that we'll get anything but not completely beyond the realms of possibility. We seem to be marginally more solid away than at home with 4 of our 5 points so far coming on the road as well as our two best performances of the season (Boro and Preston)

Ipswich seem to be a bit of a physical long ball side under McCarthy (the total opposite to how they always were in the past!) so we'll need to be strong and up for a scrap. Flint could be a key player! Concede early again and we'll get turned over... keep it tight until the break and we have a chance of nicking something.

Hopefully their minds will still be at Old Trafford

I hope we do beat them too as the maths probably tells us that 50 pts will be needed for safety - given we would then need 45 more pts from 38 matches we need to ( on average) get into a trend of WDL every 3 games and the longer we take to get into that trend the harder that ask will become

problem is based on the 4 home games I have seen so far we don't look like winning and drawing 2 of our next 3!

In my head a 6-1 (?) mauling at Portman Road was the turning point for the first season back in the Championship under GJ, similar time of year too - maybe a week or two into October?

I'll settle for it being a turning point this year too, without the scoreline though please

Sorry Woodsey you are wrong, we didn't even get 1, it was a 6-0 drubbing

Its been 37 years since we won a League game at Portman Road. On Saturday September 23, 1978, Tom Ritchie dispatched a penalty in a 1-0 victory. And if like me you're lucky enough to own a copy of The Spirit of '76 DVD, it's there in glorious black and white, plus Kevin Mabbutt's hat-trick at Old Trafford and nearly every other City goal during the 1978/79 season.

At what time of day do you have to return to your hospital ward? Is it a delusional illness that you have?

6-0 to the Tractor boys.

We played them at Portman Road twice in less than 6 months in '78, the end of one season and near the beginning of the next.

I wasn't there for the win in September, but typically had managed to get there for the 1-0 defeat in the April.

It was Ipswich's last home game before their FA Cup triumph against Arsenal a couple of weeks later, and Sir Bobby Robson stayed on the pitch appreciating the pre Wembley singing and flag waving after the game.

Since the Sept. '78 win we've played them 22 times, won 5, drawn 5, lost 12., including an FA Cup defeat and, as you say, all the wins at AG.

Didn't we win there early '90's, with Junior scoring ?

Seem to recall he ran them ragged that day.

Drew 1-1 there in '90/91, lost 4-2 in '91/92.

Won the home games 4-2 and 2-1 in the same seasons.

The didn't play them again til '98.

Obviously added 1 to ease the pain! If I had to bet on it I'd have said that was the game Fonts finally scored...maybe he got an OG!

I can tell you the pain was real and deep; the biggest ever defeat i have suffered in the flesh. It was raw, i felt like crying but i didn't and it left a knot in my stomach all the way back to London where i was living at the time. I did not even have anybody with me that day... I just remember putting the music on and tried to forget football. I think i even stopped and had some rare and crap junk comfort food on the way back. Somehow it helped as i recall.

No surprise I will be going with my two sons- This is a home fixture for me and as you can imagine I don't want to be on the end of an ear battering from the locals for the next month!  COYR!

Was at the gate last Saturday -surely we have to play better this week.

We had Gary Rowett and Steve Clarke telling us that they basically won the recent games  by sussing out our very limited tactics.

Wouldn't it be nice if Cotts was smiling in his aftermatch interview on Saturday saying we knew they were going set up this way so i set my team up to stop them doing this and thanks for the thrree points mick!

I love the optimism , it would be great if there were a few more voices like yours trying to lift all the doom and gloom around .

Yeh; didn't Ipswich have JET playing that day?

This year we only have to contend with Gerken, Skuse, Anderson & Pitman.

Anyway I'll be there.
