9 games in and we are bottom,

still think there are at least 5 teams worse than us in the championship !!

M K Dons, Preston, Brentford, Charlton and Rotherham  to start,

mid table finish is still on and achievable,

3 points on Saturday against M K Dons and the only way is up

no need to panic

Keep the faith !!!

As things stand in the table right now, we have played 5 of the top 8, and two of the bottom ten.

Mind you, the table is so tight that it is a moot point as to if they are in the top eight because they have played us, and in the bottom ten because they haven't!

what are you basing the opinion that we are better than Charlton and Brentford?

I'd agree with the other three and could argue Bolton too.

Did you see the Brentford game?

We looked better than them until Freeman was sent off. The red card completely changed the came and it is difficult to make generalisations after that. It could be argued that we are the 'better' side (ignoring the result of course!!).

I don't get why people keep saying "there are so many worse teams than us...". The table doesn't lie and right now WE are the worse team in the league.

Everyone in football says look at the table after 10 games. Well come Saturday, anything other than a win against MK Dons and the table isn't going to make very good reading.

I have been to most games this season and on reflection we have matched the teams we've played against except Reading. it's just the silly mistakes we keep making which is costing us dearly. I have a friend who is a season ticket holder at Ipswich and he said after the game last week, " if you were a neutral you would find it very hard to believe that Bristol City are languishing at the bottom of the league" all we need is the rub of the green as per Freeman's goal. last week and I think we'll be fine this season.

For Saturday I'll take a scrappy 1-0 win.

Spot on. We are currently the worst team in the championship. FACT.

ahhhh. Good old FACT. But is it a fact?

if Liverpool's first 4 games of the season were home to United & Citeh. And away to Arsenal & Chelsea and they lost all 4, they'd likely be bottom of the league.

Would they be the worst team in the league? Nope definitely not. FACT.

oh dear. Basing a whole season on one game, that we lost!

look at what Brentford did last season with a good manager.  If they appoint another one I am sure they will be fine.

Article about the bottom three clubs and their interpretation of why they are bottom :

http://offsiderulepodcast.com/2015/09/30/championship-parachute-payments-why-the-early-table-is-cause-for-concern124/?

I don't entirely agree with it, but the chase for the EPL will undoubtedly see some clubs in major freefall at some time.

good article and hits the nail on the head.  Parachute payments allow clubs to spend recklessly, and allow them to continue this for years after relegation.  Remove parachute payments and clubs will have to act accordingly  when spending money and writing contracts.

I think most fans were happy with the clubs new stance on spending after years chasing the Prem and spending recklessly.  But it seems now we have struggled some fans  want us to go back to spending in order to compete.  Whilst understandable, we can't go back to this sort of spending as it puts the clubs future in jeopardy.  We need a different approach and if that's signing up and coming players from abroad (JK) or promoting youth (Bryan, Ried, Burns) then that's what we have to do.

Yes we might go up and down constantly but, we have stuck to our principles.  Once the ground is finished and more revenue comes in, then there maybe potential to spend more, but I'd rather yo yo between divisions than spend an absolute fortune that provides absolutely no guarantees.  Most of the other Championship clubs are spending high and chasing the same dream, we can't all be successful!

Yes they would be unless someone else had lost all 4.

Not saying they will be the worse team over the season but for that period they would be the worse.

Interesting about our league position - we are bottom purely on the basis of points. Which in turn are based on matches where we have scored more or less goals than the other team, or perhaps the same number.

It all seems a bit archaic to determine who is best and who is worst using such a system.

We could learn a lot from the way they go about it in the Rugger Buggers league.

I've never got to good to go down! Surely if you in the relegation places at the end of the season you're shit!

Or or are we to bad to go down?
