The presence of the Willem flags shows we can be great friends with our fellow Europeans even if the majority don't want political union. Regarding the EU banners they have been up for months running up to the vote in or out and these banners were not put up intentionally with flag day in mind. I wasn't being critical of the banners, and whilst I was a remain voter I fully accept the democratic decision! I just wondered what they had to do with flag day (Which as you've pointed out, the answer was nothing, they just happened to be up already).
