Violent supporters force player sale

The unfortunate Anthony Mounier was forced to quit his new club St Etienne after their Ultras threatened to kill him.

His  crime ? He played for their arch rivals Olympique Lyonnais .

The two clubs swiftly found him a new club in Italy .

Matty Taylor will not have an easy time with the Gas supporters but nothing like this .

I have some connections in the Lyon area and the rivalry is indeed intense between the two clubs. It's the "proper" derby for OL, bigger than Paris or Marseilles. They despise each other.

He apparently gobbed off about St E a few years back when he was playing for Nice.

Bit of history.

Not that fans can be prejudiced but there were things back in the day that were just not on.

1. Ex Gas
2. Welsh
3. Being rubbish.

Imagine a player who was all three. And in stepped Gary Emmanuel.

Two games. And history.

Blimey...that's a blast from the past. He used to train me as a schoolboy. I remember nutmegging him twice in one session, and then him booting me all over the pitch, the following session lol

Because he was Welsh, Gas and shit?!

Why oh why did it take us so long to get rid of Pulis then.  :ranting:

Mark Hughes was another to fit all 3 criteria.

Chubby centre back who managed 22 games for City in the mid 80's.

Indeed, he did.

'We fuck the Greens (St. Étienne), we fuck them'.

Given his Lyonnais background, he was never going to be accepted warmly....
