cityred exile
LJ teams mirror GJ teams in 4411 Basso / Lucic Orr /Little , Mccombe /Flint , Mc Alister / Bryan Sproule / O Dowda , Skuse / Pack , Mc Indoe/ Cotterill Trundle/ Tomlin , Jevons/ Taylor Not Necessarily the Strongest of teams but reckon they have the Players characters and Type in the Respective Postitions
Wrongagain
Can't really compare as LJ's last 2 seasons when GJ was manager were absolute rubbish and he only made the team due to Nepotism, don't see a number 8 comparison??? Saviours in many games Pitman n Trundle! Perhaps similarity was that GJ lost the dressing room and the plot Ok I'm biased, still struggling to see any future with LJ calling the shots

Robbored
The similarities are - stature, phraseology and accent. That's all that I can see between father and son. Differences - interviews. Junior says it as it is, is very open and honest. His father was the opposite. Blamed the players after a poor performance and wouldn't/couldn't admit he got the formation/tactics wrong. Big difference.

wendyredredrobin
I dont get the impression that Lee has lost the dressing room. Just wish he would ply more varied and attacking football as we have been too predictable at times and have a team that is capable of scoring goals. Attack is the best form of defence and other teams find it hard to score when you are camped in their half.
Meh
I have never known any manager who is so critical of individual players and names them publicly as LJ. edit: some players anyway - 1 or 2 escape criticism when due !!

GJ's last two seasons, one we finished 10th and the other we were 15th at the time of his sacking but went on to finish 10th. We also drew a silly amount of games from late goals and I always recall the stat that we'd have been 4th if stoppage time didn't exist that season. Obviously that's not how football works but we certainly weren't far off and we weren't 'absolute rubbish'. Pitman didn't even play under GJ. As for the original post, I don't really see the point of discussion? Two managers play a common formation that can easily be switched into a 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 if necessary. Not exactly like LJ's playing some obscure formation that he copied his dad using.

ukneil
And there was me, after looking at the thread title, thinking this was a shameless opportunity to go all gushy proud about how us Dad's are bringing up our lads to follow in our forever frustrated and under-achieving City supporting foot-steps! Well tough-titties, I am hijacking this thread and turning it 'off-intended topic' to one that fits with the title but is altogether a much nicer subject. I guess this would work better with a picture but anyway - introducing my Son Jack, who is ten years old and born and bred in Canada. He absolutely loves his footy, both playing and watching, and is probably one of very, very few kids who goes to school in this country wearing a City home shirt or his favourite City sweater (no uniforms here unless you are in the Catholic school system). While yet to attend his first live City game he does whatever he can to follow them online and maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to tie in a game for him (us!) if I can convince Mum to let me bring him over to Blighty for his Nan's 70th birthday in August. One of my proudest moments is when upon he may occasionally slice a shot onto the neighbours property when practising in our own garden he says 'that shot was so bad it's like I am playing for Bristol Rovers!' Over to you Dads, or Mums, why don't you take a moment to share your pride?!
