22A
Ok folks, due to illness I'm housebound so just for the fun of it, I looked at this season's fixtures and added to them favourable results from years gone by. Hence the title of this thread. The one draw is Burton at home as that fixture has never occurred before. Everyone else we've beaten home & away. I've added dates of when if the result wasn't this season. Most impressive was Barnsley 5-0 at the end of one season, then 7-4 away just four months later. Aston Villa H 3-1 A 4-2 (1968) Barnsley H 5-0 (Apr 1958) A 7-4 (Aug 1958) Birmingham H 2-0 (1970) A 4-0 (1990) Blackburn H 1-0 A 6-4 (Oct 1958) Brentford H 4-1 (May 1993) A 4-1 (Nov 1997) Brighton H 5-2 (Dec 1987) A 1-0 (Feb 1980) Burton H ---- A 2-1 Cardiff H 3-2 (Feb 1974) A 3-1 (1973) Derby H 4-1 (Mar 1967) A 4-3 (Sept 1992) Fulham H 6-0 (1969) A 4-0 Huddersfield H 4-0 (Apr 2016) A 2-1 (2015) Ipswich H 2-0 A 1-0 (1978) Leeds H 1-0 A 2-0 (Feb 1978) Newcastle H 3-1 (Apr 1978) A 1-0(Aug 1910) Forest H 2-1 A2-1 (Feb 2016) Norwich H 4-0 (Sep 1970) A 3-1 (2008) PNE H 2-1 (1969) A 1-0 (1970) QPR H 5-1 (Aug 1934) A 1-0 (Apr 1977) Reading H 4-1 (Aug 1932) A 7-2 (Oct 1947) Rotherham H 1-0 A 5-2 (Aug 1955) Sheffield W H 4-1 (Apr 2016) A 5-1 (Aug 1971) Wigan H 2-1 A 3-0 (Jan 1998) Wolves H 2-0 (1992) A 1-0 (Aug 1930)

cidered abroad
I'll give you an even better one for Huddersfield away. Second Division, Dec 16th 1969, John Galley scored a hat-trick on his debut for a 3-0 win.

Admin phantom Posted February 13, 2017 Admin Share Posted February 13, 2017 How about doing a worst results one? That will be nearer the final outcome - guess it will be the Burton score as the defining result again
Atyeo's lift
I remember that Barnsley match - our family was on holiday in Scotland at the time and we went out to the car to hear the football results on the radio, but all we could hear was "Barnsley 4........" so assumed we had lost until seeing the papers next day. Midlands Robin
Doing the double of Ipswich in 78 was pretty good given the side they were developing in thethe late 70's.

Blimey you had a car in 1958! With a radio. Can also remember listening to that result on the Rediffusion "wireless" you know the one with the 5 position switch screwed to the window frame. This followed the opening day game at the Gate when we beat Rotherham 6 - 1 and scored the first in 9 seconds. The next game was Saturday away to Sheffield United and me and my mates were at the Pool in W-S-M ( Tropicanna to the younger ones ) the trannie was on for the results, Sheffield Wednesday 4 here we go how many did we score this time. Sadly a big fat zero.

There was only one in our street and it belonged to a copper. And before I'm picked up on the detail of my post it should have read Sheffield Utd not Wednesday. Of course this means you'll have another 500 odd results to figure out.
