The minute it is legal for us to do so I'm sure the club would push ahead with rail seating there first and then look at the SS.
Big C Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Probably being a bit dense here but as Shrewsbury are in the bottom two tiers of the football league, wouldn't it be easier for them to be granted this than us?
Blagdon red Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 More info on the Shrewsbury Town rail seat crowdfunding campaign here, where you can also sign up to get updates. It should benefit all fans who want safe standing: 1. Because having it in use at a previously all-seater ground in England will be good 'proof of concept' and a good site for English media and politicians to go and look at it, and 2. Because all surplus funds raised will go into an FSF pot for safe standing projects at other clubs, for which fan groups will be able to apply for 'grants'. And for individual fans in the meantime, there will be numerous 'rewards' in return for donating, including pairs of tickets to experience standing on the Yellow Wall at Dortmund. All launches on 2nd August. Info here.

No because they are in a new stadium (Built within last decade I think) so as an all seater one, they cannot revert to standing terraces.

Or is this another campaign to get it agreed?

That only applies if they've been in the top two tiers since '89, which they haven't

Or is this another campaign to get it agreed? It has been agreed. And Welcome to the Jungle is right. Although they built their new ground as an all-seater 10 years ago, they did not NEED to do so. They haven't played for 3 years in the top two tiers since 1994 and so have never become subject to the all-seater legislation. They can therefore take advantage of a new process that has been put in place to enable clubs not covered by the legilsation (29 of the 92) to apply for consent to install rail seats for use as standing accommodation. They have now applied for this and been given the green light. Their SAG will have to sign off on it ultimately, but that isn't seen as an obstacle and the campaign to raise the money is launching on Wednesday. The installation will look like this:
