Anyone have any details about this?

Heard somethings happening tomorrow afternoon and evening but can't find anything about it except under 23 fixture ...

Is it/will it be worth popping along?

1200 turned up. Interesting session. Good to see so much interaction with the fans. Kids were buzzing. Only low point so far... Made being asked for autograph

It started with `continue straight ahead` the suddenly said `turn right` and then `turn left`.

Poor bloke`s just going round and round a roundabout somewhere near Cambridge trying to make his mind up.

Surely he's good at roundabouts after living in Swinedon

Great initiative by the club.

Flint was there. My goddaughter ordered him not to leave. Players signed autographs and posed for photos for over an hour. Fair play to them. :)

Just for @Septic Peg:wub:

I think that this sort of event is absolutely superb. It's a great way of appealing to kids and gives them the sort of experience to make them fans for life.

It was announced that the crowd was approx. 1200.

Leko wasn't in the training session. He may have been at the ground though. Didn't see him.

What was interesting in the training session, especially the crossing and shooting session against one defender, was how different some players looked, to how they play on a match day.

Just goes to show how difficult it is when selecting a team and who is in form.

Great to see different training techniques in practice and the involvement of the coach's.

Even down to the lad controlling the drone overhead in the session. All filmed and stats being taken.

My first sight of the Under 23's for a couple of years and impressed with the way they played as far as discipline, technical ability and hard work. Some errors of "decision making" or choice as some would call it, but overall ok against a Burnley team that didn't perform very well. Because City did not allow them, or they just weren't up for it, I don't know.

A quick run through the side;

Max O'Leary did all that was asked and I personally believe he wouldn't let us down if in the first team.

Zak Vyner looks very ready for a decent run in the first team. Still makes the odd wrong choice but strong and quick in movement and thinking.

Harvey Smith, not the tallest centre back but read the game well and won his fair share of headers and tackles.

Tin Plavotic, a giant in height but also able to play controlled football when ball to feet.

Scott Golbourne. Good solid performance, helping the young ones with advice and always being available to help them out. I wonder if he'll stay with us and be the old, wise head in this U 23 side? Maybe get his coaching badges sooner rather than later?

Opi Edwards. Wide right midfield. For those old enough to remember, he runs like him, he's got the same build as him, has the same burst of speed as him. Him being Junior Bent. Only difference i could see is that Opi did not mess up any one on one's with their keeper because he did not have any. With his pace, could be one who will make it.

George Dowling and Tom Richards were steady rather than spectacular in central midfield. At times got caught by Burnley pressing them but in general did ok with safe passes rather than trying to play one "killer" pass.

George Nurse wide left midfield. Doesn't appear to have the pace of Edwards but then not many are that quick. Good close control and used the ball well. I wonder if he'd be more suited to left back.

Diego de Girolamo scored all three and was good where it matters for a striker; in the opposition penalty area. Not apparently blessed with really quick pace, but read the game well and put in a shift by dragging defenders out of position.

Sub James Morton looks a quality left footed midfielder. Because of the left foot, reminded me of Tinman in the way that he was available for others to pass to him. A couple of times, he took the easy sideways and keep the ball option, probably under instructions, when I thought he had the opportunity to drive toward goal and hit a shot from the edge of the box. (*)

As for City number 2, I don't believe that Eros's selection in the first team is under threat. Too slow for a full back, hardly moved in 67 minutes. But it was I assume. just a gentle work out to get him back up to full match fitness so he can replace our new golden goal scorer, Bobby Reid. Matty Taylor was actually a pain in the rear for the Burnley defenders and laid on the first goal with intelligent movement to receive the ball and then pass in a crowded box for Diego to score.

An enjoyable evening and a well deserved 3-1 win for the City boys.

PS. I think I have Harvey Smith and Tom Richards in their correct positions but I may have mixed them up.

(*) That must be the instructions they are given because I see the same in the first team. A reluctance to hit a 20/25 yard shot with a chance of a stunning goal or the strikers picking up the scraps if the keeper spills it. The safe "keep the ball" way rather than risk giving it back to the opposition if a goal doesn't happen. One of the reasons why our central midfield get so few goals? But that's another discussion thread?

this was a brilliant thing to do by the club.

a good turn out from the fans, and good to see the players meeting and signing, doing selfies with all the fans.

we went along and stayed to watch the u23's who played well, it also got my son asking if we could watch more of the u'23s games.

nice to see the first team, coaches etc get involved with the fans.

there was a concession open in the West stand, a shame the shop was closed by 5 though.
