Shtanley Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Anyone recall it? First corner for us yesterday. Baker and Flint on the halfway line, as Pato got ready to take it they sprinted full speed into the box whilst Bryan and Smith ran out to the halfway line. Almost worked a treat as baker and flint got a touch on the ball before COD put it over.
Meh Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Sounds inventive and clever idea - would confuse defenders who to pick up for sure. Surely halfway line is a bit exaggerated though? - I would imagine Flint and Baker sprinting from halfway line would span the half-time break
Norn Iron Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 It was mentioned in the commentary. I can't remember the halfway line being mentioned. They ought to try all 10 players (inc goalie) next time on the half way line. They could call it Rourke's Drift. I still remember seeing the film Zulu at the flicks. To see and hear the Zulus finally appearing on the brow of the hill before charging towards Michael Caine is a cinematic masterpiece. Imagine if we recreated it only this time the Zulu plan worked.

Clarky89 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I had a proper hissy fit before the corner was taken and was berating Johnson for not having Flint and Baker up for it!!!

Am I right in remembering LJ once said he gives responsibility to the players to come up with attacking set plays on the training ground? If I am we have a creative bunch.

It's too late for that... Enoch Showunmi moved on sometime ago. (wots that comin' over the hill... ?)
Clevedon Red Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 From a set piece point of view you can't beat the free kick that led to the goal against Palace in the 1st leg of the play offs. The Weasel I think it was.
