Sorry to dig up the past, but can anybody remember when everybody booed Russell Osman after he scored from Tinman's corner in 1993 (because it was the day Jacki was sold)! Anyway, the next day in the EP, Tinman said a message to the fans, it was something like - "if you don't like what we do then don't bother turning up", then the next game every time Tinman got the ball he was booed!

Before that, he was the golden boy after scoring that last-minute penalty against the Gas. After the EP comments though he didn't become the golden boy again until he scored the Liverpool FA Cup goal in 1994, but then a year later he was playing with glandular fever and was way below par by his standards and all the fans got on his back again bigtime (serious threats etc), First Division Stoke City offered £375,000 for him in May 1995 after our relegation but he turned that offer (and many others) down and still didn't get any praise! Tinman ofcourse did regain his form and it wasn't until he cracked the champaigne at the promotion party in 1998 that the fans became fond of him again. I think the Burberry fools were just being stubborn in the mid 1990's because Tinman clearly showed more passion on the pitch than anybody else and clearly wanted success here.

I know that Everton, Manchester City and Coventry City were all chasing him throughout the 1990's so I think Tinman deserves a lot of praise for chosing loyalty to the club he fell in love with rather than making a name for himself in the Premiership and earning more money. Jim Brennan was saying that when he first came to the club in 1995, Tinman was already coaching the youngsters and the club was already a big part of his life!

Anyway, back the Geordie southpaw you w-a-n-k-e-r-s :dunno:

Class permanent, form temporary.

Clear for day 1 that Tins had class. Those ITK realised that (and forgave any indiscretions).

Good luck Tins - here's to doing a Curbishly.

Good post, I think we love him so much now and worship him so much because we want to make up for being such idiots in the past. Tinman has done some great things at this club and what made him want to stay after the abuse he got I will never know and I am so grateful and glad he did.

However the bit about blaming it on the "burberry fools" come on don't just use them as an scapegoat to try and get us perfect image. It was everyone more so the "non burberry fools".

But some could say "harsh but fair" when you play well you get the praise and the songs so when your #### maybe you should get a bit of stick? Seems fair to me.
