Rowett

Now this isn't about us but it could have some positive implications moving forward.

Heavily linked with Stoke it seems- him leaving Derby at a vital stage of the season could well scupper them a bit...or perhaps even for a while giving them a lot of ground to make up if they have a few poor weeks.

If you were Rowett, why on earth would you join Stoke???

Because they are an established Premier League team with a decent squad and a chairman who backs his manager. He would get a big payrise and he knows more than anyone that a managers job is never safe.

Seems a no-brainer move to me

Stoke with that squad should stay with up. As you say a no guarantee with Derby , maybe his experience with Brum will make him move. The other aspect which should be taken into consideration, is it’s unlikely to mean he has to move.

Accept the job next Thursday , you know it makes sense !!

He should remember what happened at Birmingham - he did a fantastic job but was still sacked. If I was him I would definitely take the opportunity in the PL whilst my stock is high after that experience.

Billic bow 1/8 with some bookies so I imagine there’s some inside info there, looks unlikely it’ll be rowett based on that

Read somewhere this morning that Derby are in discussions with him about an extended contract - looks like they have chosen to act to keep their man!

The mediocre roundabout carries on, Allardyce will hop back on soon, as will Pardew. Surely it’s boring doing the same thing every season? Not challenging for anything but staying clear from the drop? Why don’t these clubs take a risk and change their dynamic and philosophy, you never know you could do a Leicester.

Just don’t take our manager. Take someone else’s

Derby are a bigger club than Stoke. If Rowett fancies himself as a prem manager he’s better off staying where he is.

Of course they are.  Realistically they have as much a chance of premiership football next season as Stoke do.  It would obviously be great if he left now for us..

I understand what you are saying but this move could set him up for life financially.

This sums it up for me. If he joins Stoke he’ll get a a pay rise and there is a good chance he can keep them in the Premier League. Even if Stoke are relegated the chairman would probably back him in the Championship next season. If he fails, and gets the sack at some point,  he leaves with a big payoff. For me staying with Derby is more of a risk. There’s no guarantee that Derby will be promoted and, if not, it might get the sack next season with a smaller payoff
