Davefevs
@pnefcok @Mortis Feeling a bit unqualified to do my regular tactical appraisal with regular PNE fans on our forum. If you’ve seen my format, do you fancy giving us a review of likely line-up, and the style of each player in that formation? Let me know if not, and I'll do it, but to be honest, i missed the game at AG, and haven’t seen your boys much on telly, so will be guessing a bit. GrahamC
75 bookings, 4 red cards. Described by Dean Smith recently as a side that plays on the “very edge of what is legal”. The only side to rough up Cardiff this season. Not hard to guess, is it? I used to like them but found their over physical approach & blatant gamesmanship at AG (one absolutely shocking foul on Bryan by the long haired bloke in MF) pretty crap, to be honest. pnefcok
It will be on the deck more than in the past I suspect. Robinson has been playing as the lone no.9 since Hugill left (Moult still bedding in really and wasn't fully fit for a while). Robinson is probably the least physical player you could find in our squad but his hold-up/link-up playing is improving and he got 2 assists yesterday. Maguire is back and is our main man really, got 2 yesterday off the bench, but not sure he's fit enough to start yet so think Robinson will continue centrally. Fisher will be back from suspension at right back and has been a revelation since joining from Rotherham on a free. Cunningham has been back for a while now after missing pretty much the whole first half of the season. Tom Clarke is out but isn't first choice nowadays anyway at the back. Rudd is currently in nets after Maxwell had a shaky few weeks, and he's done well just like he did on loan for us for 18 months in L1. Our midfield will be constantly harrying and pressing with Pearson and Browne in there + one of Johnson, Gallagher or Harrop. Pearson is on 12 bookings already and got 16 last season which resulting in a hearing at Wembley. Predicted line-up - Rudd Fisher Huntington Davies Cunningham Pearson Browne Bodin Harrop Barkhuizen Robinson Maxwell Spurr Earl Gallagher Johnson Maguire Moult

Leveller
Sounds like they are pretty similar to us. Interesting to see how this works out.
INCRED
I think some of our players will be looking to put a few things right in this game after some of the tactics PNE applied at the game at AG. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a fair few bookings and possible sending off in this one
bcfcredandwhite
PNE have a hoodoo over us. I’d take a draw - and I’d say that even if we were top in Wolves’s position and they were bottom - we just CANNOT beat them for some reason.

Alex Neil said last time that he was so glad we played Duric and knew exactly how to deal with our side. We could not string two passes together in the first half of that game. 2nd half we brought off Duric and looked much more of a threat, but all our crosses had no one on the end of them, with Reid isolated in the box. Pearson is my favourite player of theirs. I wouldn't be against adding an extra man in midfield to try and cope with him and Browne. Maybe a Fulham type line up is required for this one. Their tactic for Djuric seemed to be to get Huntingdon to moan to the ref about every single challenge he made & try and get him sent off. They were worried by Djuric, that is why they tried so hard to get him red carded.
ZiderEyed
Play like we did against Wednesday and we can win this one. Obviously not a game to take lightly but a win would be massive.

t_b
Do Preston do POTD or are they advance only like us?
pnefcok
Also, we have been significantly better away than at home so far this season. Our away record is second only to Wolves, but in the home league table we're 14th. The squad was built for Grayson's counter attacking and is still a bit better suited to away games, Neil is trying to put his stamp on the attacking side of the team a bit more but it may take another transfer window or two yet. Dr Balls
I can't imagine Joe Bryan taking much more stock than he did against Wednesday. Really need our strongest defence & midfield against Preston. Even without Hugill, they will be physical all over the pitch. As per my feeling against Cardiff, I would go 4-5-1 , play Joe in midfield and play Bobby up front on his own, leaving Diedhiou to come on in the second half to mix things up. Definitely glad to have Pack back in midfield for this game. We are so due a result against them, really hope it happens on Tuesday evening.... Well let's just hand them the three points then and save our energy for Burton . Defeatist attitude.
