Bobby Reid

Chairman Mao

To be honest, he is such a talent that I would be hugely frustraited if he didn't achieve prem status soon, even if that wasn't with us. Class person, class footballer, a cut above the rest.

We are truly blessed to have him, and his quality technically as well as work rate would work wonders in the prem IMO.

Can someone who was there today help me understand if Reid had such a good game, why our strikers didn't muster a single shot on target - was their no service at all?

There’s a difference between effort and commitment, versus end product. Bobby gave his all today, the rest were second to everything.

Had a much better 2nd half when he was dropped deeper, he didn't get much of the ball 1st half because he was too isolated and we have forgot how to play football.

Class act is our Bob, really hope he is here next season.

Every time he had the ball it stuck and he made a good pass, same can't be said for anyone else on the pitch.

I'll eat a warm plate of my own shit if he's not in the PL by 2020.

Noted, any chance this forum can get a 'remind me' function like Reddit? The amount of times we see stuff like this one or two have to not come true....

He was getting deeper and deeper from the word go just to see the ball because the rest of them had no confidence in actually passing it to his feet once they got over the halfway line (hoof upcoming in 3..2..1...) - so as a result he was never going to be in a shooting position when he got the ball AND we certainly had no one bar possibly Korey of all players, making runs to overlap him, so he was never going to setup a shooting chance either. Once we brought on Djuric and Diedhiou we tried to play the same type of game through him and into them down the middle, which continued to be a route that was easy for Millwall to step into and stop.

Can only endorse everything the dear leader @Chairman Mao has said in starting this thread. I'm not surprised Bobby Reid hasn't signed a new contract with us. If you had half the skill that he has and played with the same confidence and bust-a-gut attitude that he shows, yet were consistently around these sub-5 out of 10 performances those around him are putting in, would you envisage a long term future here either? If he wasn't such a quiet and utterly humble lad I wouldn't blame him for losing his rag with those around him by now - can you imagine Ronaldo tolerating this kind of service? Give him the Player of the Season award now.

By the way, our away support can be a bit hit and miss and gets some bad press on here at times, but at the risk of being sentimental, I was genuinely moved at the end when a lot of people sang his name. Would have been easy for 2000 to slope off moaning, but I thought it spoke volumes for the understanding of the game and what certain players had contributed, that that spontaneous song broke out. It wasn't like there was any widespread effort to applaud the players as a whole, but the fact that there was a reaction for Bobby, actually surprised me and I thought was both fitting and just a bit of class from our (usually easily criticised) away support.
