If you have Sky but not Sky Sports, Engurrrlund vUSA is live on Sky One tonight!

That's great for me. Sky occasionally show a live match on Sky One but I can't remember ever watching England for 'free' before on Sky.

An indication of how desperate Sky are to get people to watch this total non event tonight?

I have just checked on my VERY VERY old sky box and it says if you want the match you gotta subscribe.

Checked on the Q box without subscription

and it says it will show the match

Hers hoping

Hi N,

Sky One is part of the cheapest subscription package, so you'll have to pay as it's not a free chamnel!

Can you have Sky Q without at least the basic sub?

I personally thought it was a really good game, so those who chose not to watch due to the Rooney debacle actually missed a decent match.

Refreshing to see a friendly in which we actually went for it with some proper attacking football from hungry young players. I don't think the Rooney affair really took anything away from the game in the end, though I still don't think it was something I would have chosen to do had it been my decision.

I agree, watching Sancho and Alexander-Arnold attack and go forward every time they get the ball was so much more refreshing than Henderson and Dier passing it back to the goalie.

The last 3/4 England games I’ve actually watched I’ve enjoyed and therefore looked forward to as Southgate is generally picking/promoting players on form such as Wilson and Dunk to give them a chance.

I agree. I've avoided many an England friendly over the past few years but I'm glad I watched it last night. The young attacking options are pretty exciting and Southgate seems to have the squad enjoying the whole experience and playing with real confidence as a result.

Happy for Callum Wilson grabbing that goal in the nick of time too. He's come a long way from taunting us after scoring for Coventry in that crazy 5-4 game at Northampton. We somehow made a few million from a donkey of a CB we had playing in that game too.

I was obviously pro USA last night but agree with the assessment. Think USA were caught out a bit by the “reserves.” Was sat there thinking if Kane, Dier, Trippier and Henderson would have played we would have coped much better. Instead TAA, Sancho, Winks and Wilson caused much more problems with their forward passing, risk taking and movement. I hope to see more of that England side because that would be much more of a threat in winning tournaments than even this summer past side.

How good sancho is and couldn't get a sniff at man city , the same is happening to foden way to good for last 5 mins every other week ,  it's a disgrace players that good look to leave because money is no object and we have no home grown restrictions on our prem sides .credit to Southgate picking him though he's a class act .

I enjoyed it too.  USA put in a few tackles too, giving the game a bit of an edge.  Rooney had a good game when he came on, in fact better than quite a few of his latter performances up to and including his 119th cap.

Trent A-A and Gomes (I know he didn’t play last night) are huge finds for England at this early stage in their career.

Chilwell- we finally have a left back since the early days of Ashley Cole that brings his club form and ability onto the international stage.

Still need to see more of Winks, but RL-C is looking like he could really do the biz at this level, he glides around, but is physical too.

Wilson reminded me of Darren Bent, even runs like him.

Was an OK game to watch, but boy do those Americans love themselves, the only shame we didn't put more past them than we did

The only downside last night was waiting over an hour for one of my colleagues to collect their bag from the bag area after the game, it was total carnage waiting and then the locals having no clue of what they were doing

All bags will be left in the boot of the car on Sunday !!

Did you mean this as a compliment, or an insult? I'm really not sure, ha.

I personally think that Darren Bent was very underrated (in his prime) and didn't get enough chances with England.

24 premier league goals in 2010 and no place on the plane to South Africa.

Callum Wilson would do well to match him.

Compliment.  Bent wasn’t top, top drawer, but was still very decent.

Callum Wilson was excellent. Rumours Chelsea want him and can see why. Centre backs were iffy and Delph had a bit of a mare. Chilwell looks very good. Sancho hot and cold but very exciting. RLC very good too.

And good to see Rooney one more time especially as he played well.

What makes you say that about Fabian Delph?

He played a part in a reasonably solid performance in two different positions, and got an assist.

The guardian and Sky have rated him reasonably well, and on the average rater on BBC where the public rates the players, he's come out as England's fourth best player.

I also watched the game, and there was no one on the pitch for England who had anything like a 'mare' in my opinion.

Thought he was positionally very poor.  He isn't a holding midfielder.  Offered little or no protection to the centre backs.  Played if very safe in passing.  Laboured in closing down.

It was more his work off the ball than on the ball so not surprised he got rated well by the likes of Sky! People don't notice poor off-the-ball work.
