MarcusX
Didn't Port Vale play Stoke u21s in the last round as well? Would it be the ultimate embarrassment to be beaten by your rivals u21s in a competitive fixture?

Stoke were the only ones that could have come out of that having gained anything - Port Vale (& in this case Sunderland) literally on a hiding to nothing in a competition that maybe doesn't matter to Port Vale (almost definitely doesn't mean anything to Sunderland). A bigger & faster fall from grace for Sunderland, especially if they had lost.
